Both Brentford and Forest were involved in 3-2 scorelines in midweek FA Cup replays, with Wolves seeing off the Bees at Molineux, while The Tricky Trees got the better of Blackpool after extra-time.
Thomas Frank’s side have had an extra day's preparation for this clash but they arrive here winless in their last seven across all competitions. In the Premier League Brentford have lost seven of their last eight, with their only win in that period coming at home to Luton. Heading into Saturday’s clash sit just three points above the relegation zone and are chalked-up at 19/20 to collect the three points at the GTech Community Stadium.
Since taking over at The City Ground, Nuno Santo has managed victories over both Manchester United and Newcastle United in the Premier League. Forest find themselves one position and one point above Saturday’s opponent in the table, having collected 20 points from 20 matches. A possibility of a points deduction looms over the banks of the River Trent, but for those who are looking to get them on-side in this clash, 3/1 is widely available.
Brentford vs Nottingham Forest Tips
The long awaited return of Ivan Toney is upon us! After an eight-month ban the Brentford forward has been building up his match fitness in a series of behind closed doors friendlies over the last few weeks and should slot straight back into the starting XI.
After a poor run of results and with Bryan Mbeumo and Kevinn Schade out injured, along with Yoane Wissa away at AFCON, Brentford are in much need of some support in the final third and luckily for them Forest are an opponent that Toney enjoys playing against. In his career, Toney has faced Nottingham Forest on three separate occasions and has scored in each of those.
Over the last few weeks Toney has been vocal about a potential big-money move to another Premier League club and Saturday provides him to really showcase his services in the shop-window to potential buyers. The visitors have failed to keep a clean sheet in 11 on the bounce across all formats and at 5/4 I really like the look of Toney to score on his return to action.
With Nuno Santo’s side having had less preparation time for this game and Brentford looking incredibly short for my liking in the match result market, I’ve decided to take a lean towards goals in this match and have backed both teams to score in both halves.
Despite having failed to win their last seven, Brentford have in fact scored in each of those. The return of Toney should only bolster their case for scoring here and it’s also worth noting that in each of their five league wins this season they have been required to score two goals.
Since Nuno Santo replaced Steve Cooper in the dugout, Forest have scored at least two goals in all four of their matches. I think both sides will really go for the win here on Saturday and a goal-laden affair could well be on the menu. Most betting sites have this selection priced at 11/1, however by using the bet365 Bet Builder feature and adding each individual team to score in each half, you can snaffle 14/1.
