Brentford vs. Tottenham Betting Tips: Maddison to strike from outside the area

Two games take place in the Premier League on Sunday with the first of those being Brentford against Spurs at 2pm. Our man Anthony Eadson has scoured the betting markets and has snaffled out some potential value in two selections he likes the look of.
Only one point separated Brentford from Spurs in the table at the end of last season, with The Bees securing ninth thanks to an impressive haul of 59 points. Thomas Frank will be without two of his key players from last term, with his main striker Ivan Toney suspended until January and David Raya close to a move to Arsenal.
Spurs now begin a new chapter under former Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou. It was a turbulent time for Tottenham under Antonio Conte, however the new boss will most likely be without the services of Harry Kane, with his move to Bayern Munich edging ever closer.
Brentford’s new signing between the sticks Mark Flekken is expected to make his debut, while Rodrigo Bentancur, Ryan Sessegnon and Tanguy Ndombele are all absent for the visitors.
Brentford vs Tottenham Tips
The first selection I’m touting on Sunday is for Bryan Mbeumo to record Over 1.5 Shots and 0.5 Shots on Target. This is a stand-out best price with bet365 at evens, while others such as Paddy Power and Betfair go considerably shorter at 6/10.
Extra impetus will be on Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo for the first half of this new campaign with his fellow attacker Ivan Toney suspended until January for betting related offences.
The Frenchman should therefore be promoted to penalty duty and taking a look back at his shooting data from the back end of last season, it makes for positive reading.
This bet landed in five of Mbeumo’s last seven league games in 2022/23, including away at Spurs when Brentford came away 3-1 winners in May. Over the course of the campaign, Mbeumo averaged 2.2 shots and 1.0 shots on target per game, when looking at the 19 home matches he featured in.
At 14/1 I also think it could be worth having a little bit of loose change on Tottenham new-boy James Maddison to score from outside the area.
Again this one is a bit of a price-based play, with other firms such as Unibet and Sky Bet having this same selection priced at just 9/1.
In each of the last three league campaigns Maddison has scored three goals from outside the area for Leicester and is known for being one of the most accurate and deadly when it comes to letting rip from range.
Those figures alone give appeal to the 14/1 on offer from bet365, but with Spurs expected to play a much more attacking brand of football under Ange Postecoglou, it would be no surprise to see Maddison improve on last term's tally of three goals from outside the box.
