Borussia Dortmund vs. Bayern Munich Betting Tips: Two tips for the first Klassiker of the season

One of the most recognisable fixtures in European football takes place on Saturday, as Borussia Dortmund host Bayern Munich in Der Klassiker. With just goal difference separating the two sides occupying 4th and 3rd in the league, a win will be important to keep up with Union Berlin and Freiburg above them.
Der Klassiker Tips
The match between Germany’s two biggest clubs is always a fascinating encounter, and both sides are coming into this one off the back of some impressive wins in the Champions League in midweek. With both clubs losing their star strikers in the summer, the focus will be elsewhere around the pitch, with Jude Bellingham and Jamal Musiala arguably the standout players, despite their young ages.
Bayern have won nine of the last 10 editions of this fixture, scoring a whopping 38 goals in that time at an average of 3.8 per game, whilst conceding just the 12, an average of 1.2. Bayern’s record away at Dortmund is also impressive of late, winning four of their last five away at the Signal Iduna Park.
As always, we’ve previewed the game, and picked out two tips that have caught our eye.
Starting off with the previously mentioned Mr. Bellingham, the 19-year old Stourbridge native is going from strength to strength, this week becoming the first English teenager to captain a side in the Champions League. Bellingham then rounded that impressive milestone off with a goal and an assist, and now looks certain to be starting for England in the upcoming World Cup.
The midfielder has shone since the departure of Haaland at Dortmund, taking the weight of the team upon his young shoulders, and that has led to him becoming more of a goal threat as previously mentioned.
He’s scored in each of his three games so far in the Champions League, and that midweek form should translate well to the league game, where he’s currently registered 10 shots on target from his eight appearances. That translates into 1.25 shots on target per game in the league, and the 6/4 looks a good price for that to happen again.
Next up, we’re looking for there to be exactly five match goals. This bet has landed in two of the last five meetings between these two sides, with both of them coming at the Signal Iduna Park.
As previously alluded to, this game tends to bring fireworks, with Dortmund and Bayern tending to throw the kitchen sink at each other in order to get a result.
Interestingly enough, this bet also landed in each of the games between these two teams back in the 2018/19 season, again with the fixture at Dortmund ending 3-2. 5/1 represents a 16.7% chance of this bet landing, and the history showed it’s happened in 40% of the recent five fixtures, it’s a bet that we’ll take. Alternatively, if you fancy even more goals, over 5.5 comes in at 4/1 with Bet365, with over 4.5 coming at 11/5.
