Bolivia vs Chile Prediction: Brereton Diaz to strike in 16/1 Bet Builder

Bolivia face Chile on Tuesday evening as World Cup Qualifying continues over in South America. The game kicks off at 8pm live on Premier Sports and will be played in La Paz - the world’s highest capital city at 3800m above sea level. Our man @AnthonyEadson has provided us with a bet he likes the look of which can be backed at 16/1 with bet365.
Just one point separates these two teams coming into this match with Chile 7th and Bolivia 8th in the South American qualifying standings. The top four sides will automatically qualify for the World Cup in Qatar, while the fifth-placed team will play an intercontinental play-off against a team from Asia.
This looks a must win game for both sides if they are to keep their hopes of reaching the World Cup alive, but they both come into this one off the back of defeats. Bolivia went down 4-1 in a disappointing away loss to Venezuela on Friday while Chile lost 2-1 to Argentina on home soil. One man who was on the scoresheet for La Roja in that game was Ben Brereton Diaz and he features in my bet for the game.
Bolivia vs Chile Tips
Ben Brereton Diaz to score & be carded - 0.25pts @ 16/1 bet365
It was reported last week that staff from the Chilean National team had been impressed with Ben Brereton’s preparation for the coming World Cup qualifier against Bolivia. For most of the Chile side, playing at an altitude of 3800m would not cause too many issues, however this will be Ben Brereton’s first game high in the Andes in La Paz and he’s been acclimatising in England by using a hypobaric chamber.
Chile also switched their training camp and home game against Argentina to Calama in the north of the country near the Atacama Desert which is 2,260m above sea level in preparation for this game with Bolivia and after his goal in that match, I’m expecting another big performance from Ben Brereton Diaz.
In total, the Stoke-born striker has scored 20 goals in 26 league starts for Blackburn Rovers this season and has helped fire Tony Mowbray’s side to second in the table. Diaz scored his first goal for Chile against Bolivia last summer and since then he has started eight games and already managed four goals for Martin Lasarte’s side.
A man in the form of his life at the moment, Diaz’s sublime header against Argentina may just have added another few million to his price tag and he can get on the scoresheet again here with Bolivia leaking four to Venezuela last time out, who currently are bottom of the South American World Cup qualifying table.
As well as finding the net, I’ll also be hoping that BBD can pick up a card in the match from Venezuelan official Alexis Herrera. In his eight starts for the national side so far since making his debut in June 2021 Brereton Diaz has picked up three yellow cards.
Blackburn Rovers have collected the most cards in The Championship this season with 71, six of which have been awarded to Ben Brereton, his latest coming in the 95th minute against Hull on his last appearance for Rovers. All things considered here 16/1 looks a reasonable price. Good luck to anyone following the selections this evening. Vamos Chile!
