Birmingham vs Wrexham Prediction, Odds and Starting Line-Ups: 14/1 Bet Builder for high-profile League One clash
Birmingham City and Wrexham go head-to-head at St Andrew's tonight in one of the most high-profile League One matches in recent years, screened live on Sky Sports Main Event at 8pm.
Read on for our preview, the confirmed starting line-ups, the best bets for the match, plus a 40/1 offer for new Sky Bet customers.
Birmingham vs Wrexham Predictions
Wrexham have made a superb start to life in League One as they target a third straight promotion under co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenny. The Red Dragons have accumulated four wins and a draw from their opening five games, which puts Phil Parkinson's side top of the table; scoring the most goals in the league (11), while no team has conceded fewer (2).
Three points behind you'll find Birmingham, in 6th spot, who remain the bookmakers favourites to win the League One title. Like Wrexham, the Blues are unbeaten with 10 points from four games, meaning a win on Monday will draw them level with Wrexham on 13 points, with a game in hand.
The Midlands side are odds-on to claim the spoils at 10/11, Wrexham are available at 16/5 to topple the hosts and extend their lead at the summit to three points, while a draw can be backed at 5/2.
Birmingham Starting XI
- Peacock-Farrell; Gardner-Hickman, Klarer, Bielik, Cochrane; Iwata, Paik; Stansfield, Willumsson, Hansson; May.
Wrexham Starting XI
- Okonkwo; Cleworth, O'Connell, O'Connor; Barnett, Rathbone, Dobson, Lee, McClean; Marriott, Palmer.
Birmingham have a 100% record on the road but on home soil they have yet to sparkle, having won only won of their four games at St Andrew's this season, which came in the 90th minute against Wigan.
So while Birmingham may be the odds-on favourites in the betting, their short price means there's value to be snapped up in regards to Wrexham, who given their superb start will feel they have every chance of claiming a result and firing a big early statement of intent to their promotion rivals.
Wrexham can backed at 16/5 to make it five wins from six games, with a draw also a very appealing price at 5/2. However, I'm going to be a little more cautious and back Wrexham at double-chance, which is available at a best-priced 11/10 with Sky Bet, compared to 10/11 with most other bookmakers.
Wrexham are unbeaten in their opening five league matches, four of which have been wins over Wycombe, Reading, Peterborough, and Shrewsbury, while they drew at Bolton. On top of that, they have kept four clean sheets on the spin and have developed a habit of racing out of the blocks, leading 2-0 at the break in four games so far.

I have also compiled a 14/1 Bet Builder with bet365 who are offering new players £30 in free bets when you sign up and place a £10 bet on tonight's match.
First on my radar is Birmingham striker Alfie May who I'm backing to find the back of the net, as he's done in all four league games so far this season, which puts him joint-top of the League One Golden Boot standings. May's fine form will be no surprise to Charlton fans who watched him bag the League One Golden Boot last season with a return of 23 goals.
Wrexham's Jack Marriott has also enjoyed a fast start in front of goal, netting three times in five games. He's had more shots on target than any player in the Wrexham and Birmingham ranks with seven, recording at least one SOT in each match, and is 5/6 to continue that trend on Monday.
Finally, I'm after a card from Marriott's teammate George Dobson, who has picked up two yellows already this term and has committed two or more fouls in four of his five appearances. If we stretch back to the end of last season at Charlton, he's been booked in five of his last 10 League One fixtures.
Add these three bets together to form a 14/1 Bet Builder, which qualifies for a 25% Winnings Boost, which equates to an extra £35 off a £10 bet e.g. a £10 bet at 14/1 would usually have potential returns of £150, but with the boost this jumps to £185.
