Betting Stories: Punter turns £10 into £10,000 after cashing out bet before Villarreal slump to defeat

One punter turned £10 into £10,000 with a shrewd cash out decision as Villarreal slumped to a late defeat against Osasuna on Sunday.
The Betfair customer placed a mammoth 11-fold across the weekend's action from Europe's top leagues, which included West Ham to beat Everton and Tottenham to beat Newcastle in the Premier League yesterday.
Both fixtures were decided by just one goal, as the Hammers scored their winner in the latter stages of the game at Goodison Park. Spurs, meanwhile, fell behind early at Newcastle but fought back to win 3-2 as Harry Kane got off the mark in the league with a beautifully lofted finish midway through the first half.
The acca was actually placed in-play on Saturday evening, as AC Milan found themselves two goals down after 24 minutes at home to Verona. Predicting a comeback from the Italian giants, the punter included Milan to win the game at odds of 2.62 - which massively boosted the overall returns of this sensational bet - and they duly obliged, winning 3-2.
The true masterstroke came in La Liga, however. With Villarreal drawing 0-0 at home to Osasuna and Spurs 3-1 up away at Newcastle, the bettor was offered a cashed out for £10,033 and took it. Unai Emery's side then went on to lose the game 2-1, ensuring that had the original bet have been left to run, they would have ended the weekend penniless.
We don't know what or why they were thinking what they were when this bet was placed, as it is a truly random concoction of selections. But credit where it's due - they played an absolute blinder with this one.
