Bet Builder Tips: Maguire double can land for the sixth time in 2021

The heartbreak of ‘that’ penalty shootout is now behind us and the new Premier League campaign is upon us. Here at BettingOdds.com, this season we’ll be bringing you our best Bet Builder Tips each weekend with selections for both Saturday and Sunday.
First up we’ve got a lovely Bet Builder double at just over 12/1 that has caught the eye of our man @AnthonyEadson for the Manchester United v Leeds United game at 12:30pm Saturday. The selection can be built using the Betfair or Paddy Power’s Bet Builder feature or by clicking the link in the block below.
With it being the opening weekend, there’s plenty of good offers around from bookmakers including a free £5 Bet Builder for all Paddy Power Customers. You can read more about those offers for both new and existing customers here.
Bet Builder Tips - Man United v Leeds United
Card Machine
The Manchester United captain was one of my go to players in the bookings market last season and into the summer, and it’s easy to see why when you remember that he’s had a remarkable seven yellow cards in his last 12 games for club and country.
Only John McGinn was cautioned more times than Harry Maguire in the league last season with Slabhead picking up 11 in total, including one on his opening and one of his closing games of the season. A further nine yellows followed in other competitions last term, taking his tally up to a gargantuan 20 for the season.
It may be the opening weekend but with fans back in Old Trafford and the arrival of Yorkshire rivals Leeds I think this could be a fiery one. Another big bonus here is that Paul Tierney will be the referee in charge. No other Premier League official averaged more yellow cards per game last season than Tierney with 3.90, which should certainly help those favouring yellows at Old Trafford this weekend.
Get Up!
Paired with Maguire to pick up a booking is for him to have a shot. Another impressive stat is that last season for club and country, in the 20 games that Maguire was cautioned, he only failed to have a shot in five of them.
Trent Alexander-Arnold was the only defender to have more shots in the league last term than Maguire who should also now benefit from the introduction of a new set-piece coach that Manchester United have brought in.
The average of 1.1 shots per game that Maguire recorded in the 2020/2021 campaign was his highest ever in the league and all things considered the 12/1 doesn’t look like a bad price. I see this being quite an open game with both sides ranking highly in the attacking xG metrics last season and Manchester United seeing both teams to score land in more of their fixtures than any other team.
This selection has landed five times this calendar year and despite bookmakers cutting Maguire’s price ‘to be carded’ in recent months, I still think there’s some juice left in backing it. Just over 12/1 is available through Betfair’s Bet Builder feature, with Paddy Power marginally shorter.
Best of luck if you are following any of our selections this weekend and as always, please gamble responsibly.
