Bayern Munich vs. Man Utd Betting Tips: Two bets for Group A clash

Old foes Bayern Munich and Man Utd go head-to-head in Germany in a high-profile Group A opener.

Jimmy The Punt has previewed the duel and provided his best two bets for the action.

Starts do not get much tougher in the Champions League than a trip to Bayern Munich. 

Having said that, Bayern's preparation was hardly ideal, a 2-2 draw with Bayer Leverkusen took place on Friday evening and saw Thomas Tuchel’s side concede late. 

Joshua Kimmich was substituted in the second half with an injury and faces a fitness test ahead of this fixture. The German midfielder should be fit enough to start on Wednesday evening though. 

Elsewhere, Jamal Musiala is back available following an injury and should dislodge Thomas Muller in the starting XI. 

Manchester United’s start to the campaign has been catastrophic, on and off the field. 

On the turf, they have won six points thanks to wins against Wolves and Nottingham Forest despite playing very poorly. Against sides of their calibre, the Red Devils lost 2-0 against Tottenham, while Brighton and Arsenal both beat them 3-1. 

Off the field, Jadon Sancho has been banished and Anthony has been put on gardening leave due to the allegations against the winger. 

Erik ten Hag should revert back to a 4-2-3-1 on Wednesday after the diamond he deployed on Saturday failed miserably. 

The German champions are a Champions League staple. 

This is their 16th consecutive year in Europe’s premier knock-out competition, they have reached the knockout stages in every tournament they have played in since 2003. 

Bayern last failed to score in the Champions League group stage at home in 2009, 40 games ago, and remain unbeaten across their last 34 group games, winning all but three of those. 

I think they win and do so emphatically here which is why the -1 handicap appeals at 7/5.

Konrad Laimer notched up 10 bookings last campaign, eight of which came domestically despite only starting 17 games. 

The 9/2 available for him to be shown a card appeals, especially considering he is as short as 2/1 elsewhere. 

Laimer will be opposing Marcus Rashford so should have his work cut out containing the England international considering his pace and directness, particularly on the counter.
