Aston Villa vs. West Ham Betting Tips: Two bets for Sunday's Premier League game
Sunday’s only Premier League fixture is an all claret and blue affair as Aston Villa face West Ham at 16:30 live in front of the Sky Cameras. Jimmy The Punt is on hand to provide us with his best bets inside this dedicated match preview.
The hosts went into the international break unbeaten in four games, a period that saw them pick up 10 points, score 11 games and hoisted them up to fifth in the table.
Unai Emery is without four players here, Tyrone Mings, Emi Buendia, Jacob Ramsey and Alex Moreno. This should see Pau Torres partner Ezri Konsa in the heart of defence.
West Ham also went into the international break off the back of four games without a defeat. After his squad came through the international break unscathed, David Moyes could name the same side that picked up a point against Newcastle.
Aston Villa vs West Ham Tips
Siding with West Ham with a +0.5 head start on the asian handicap appeals. Essentially it is the same bet as taking them double chance or with a +1 on the handicap but the asian line has fractionally better odds.
This pits two sides against one another that are out performing their underlying data, the hosts up +3.4pts and West Ham +5.4pts better off ‘than they should be’.
I am taking those statistics with a pinch of salt having watched a fair bit of both sides. The reason the visitors appeal is I think the dynamic of the clash is better suited to the Hammers.
David Moyes' sides traditionally live in the realms of fine margins, last season we saw them regress significantly and this campaign we are seeing the opposite.
West Ham have only lost two games against Manchester City and the other against Liverpool, two of the current three favourites to win the top flight.
The Hammers have won seven of their other nine games, with this bet clicking in 82% of their games in all competitions.
Like his side, Jarrod Bowen’s output fell off a cliff last campaign. His domestic goals tally halved to six with him underperforming his xG total of 8.9.
This season, Bowen has hit the ground running. He is already one goal away from equalling last season's total.
He may not have scored in any of his last two games for his side but he did find the net five times in the previous seven appearances, it is the classic he is due one.
Best of luck if you are backing any of these selections and please remember to gamble responsibly.
