Aston Villa's top-four charge has been hampered by a 4-0 home defeat to Tottenham and a 1-1 draw at West Ham in their last two league matches.
Unai Emery's men can still look forward to an exciting end to the campaign as they chase Champions League qualification and are also favourites to win the Europa Conference League.
Wolves's FA Cup run was ended by an extraordinary 3-2 quarter-final defeat to Championship side Coventry, who scored twice in injury-time at Molineux just before the international break.
Wanderers are enjoying an excellent first season under Gary O'Neil and they kick off the latest round of Premier League fixtures in eighth place - above both Newcastle and Chelsea.
They have claimed some impressive away results in the league since Christmas, beating Brentford 4-1, Chelsea 4-2 and Tottenham 2-1, and have won five and lost only one of their last nine Premier League meetings with Villa.
Aston Villa vs Wolves Team News
Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn is suspended after his red card against Tottenham. Boubacar Kamara, Emiliano Buendia and Tyrone Mings are injured and Matty Cash and Jacob Ramsey will be assessed.
Wolves could be missing injured forwards Hee-Chan Hwang, Pedro Neto and Matheus Cunha, so 19-year-old striker Nathan Fraser may start up front. Craig Dawson and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde face fitness tests for the visitors.
Possible Starting Line-Ups
- Aston Villa (4-4-2): Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Torres, Moreno; Bailey, Tielemans, Luiz, Ramsey; Watkins, Diaby
- Wolves (3-4-2-1): Sa; Kilman, Dawson, T Gomes; Semedo, Doyle, Traore, Ait-Nouri; Lemina, Sarabia; Fraser
Aston Villa vs Wolves Tips
October's 1-1 draw at Molineux extended Aston Villa's lean recent run against Wolves, but they should be backed to pick up three points in an entertaining contest at Villa Park.
Emery's men are 15 points better off than their visitors, having played a game more and their line-up is packed with attacking talent.
Striker Ollie Watkins is having a terrific season, while Moussa Diaby and Leon Bailey pose major threats to the Wolves defence and Youri Tielemans scored twice in Belgium's 2-2 draw with England on Tuesday.
Wolves are likely to be without several key forwards, but they have scored 10 goals in their last five away league games and can play their part in a high-scoring affair.
Villa's last five league victories were by 3-2, 5-0, 2-1, 4-2 and 3-2 scorelines and, having brushed aside Conference League opponents Ajax 4-0 at Villa Park earlier this month, they can win a game featuring over 2.5 goals.
With Wolves' more regular goalscoring threats sidelined, midfielder Mario Lemina may be used in an advanced role at Villa Park.
He was sent off late on in the reverse fixture against Villa, but should get chances against a defence who have conceded 13 goals in five home league games since Christmas.
Lemina has scored four top-flight goals this season, against Newcastle, Tottenham, Chelsea and Brentford, while he also had four shots in February's 2-0 home defeat to the Bees.
The midfielder burst into the box to hook in a second-minute goal in last month's 1-0 FA Cup fifth-round win over Brighton and he looks to be a big price to get on the scoresheet this weekend.
