Aston Villa vs. Brentford Betting Tips: Mbeumo to deliver again in the shots market

Aston Villa vs Brentford Odds
Aston Villa take on Brentford in the Midlands on Sunday with the game kicking off at 2pm and here at BettingOdds.com we’ve previewed the action and have provided you with two bets that we like the look of.
After a damning 3-0 defeat on Thursday evening at the hands of Fulham, Steven Gerrard was told his services were no longer required at Villa Park. The search is now on for a new boss to take this talented squad to the area of the league the fans and board believe they should be. After a run of just one win in nine league outings, Villa find themselves 17th in the table on just nine points and they come into this clash with Brentford, as the rather short looking 11/10 favourites.
Brentford will have been pleased to take a point against a Chelsea side on Wednesday who had won every game previously under new boss Graham Potter. The Bees have three winnable games coming up with this trip to Villa, a home game against Wolves and a visit to Nottingham Forest and they will be targeting back-to-back wins for the first time this season. Thomas Frank’s side can be backed at 5/2 to take all three points on Sunday.
Diego Carlos, Cameron Archer and Lucas Digne are all sidelined through injury for the hosts, while Douglas Luiz will also miss out through suspension. For the visitors, Christian Norgaard, Pontus Jansson and Aaron Hickey all remain on the treatment table and will miss this trip to Birmingham.
Aston Villa vs Brentford Tips
Bryan Mbeumo has been one of my go to players in the shots markets over the last 12 months and I still feel there is a bit of juice left in his prices. I put up Mbeumo to have 2+ shots against Chelsea on Wednesday in our match preview, for which he obliged with 2 shots in total, one of which hit the target with a header he probably should have done better with.
When looking at Mbeumo’s shooting stats this term he has taken 20 shots in total, but more importantly for this selection, he has hit the target at least once in eight of his 11 league matches. With this in mind quotes of 5/6 look fair against a Villa side who only kept a clean sheet once in their last nine.
I’ll also be having a little bit of loose change on Ivan Toney to score and be carded in this match, which is currently available at a best price of 14/1 with either Paddy Power or Betfair. A player who has been in excellent form this season and is surely in contention to be taken on that plane to Qatar, especially when you consider his incredible penalty taking record.
Toney has scored eight goals in just 11 Premier League appearances in the 2022/2023 season and has also been shown four yellow cards in that period. The Brenford talisman averages 1.7 fouls per game, an increase on the 1.5 per game last season in a campaign where he was booked on eight occasions. This bet of Toney to score and be carded has landed twice in his last three matches and looks a decent play on Sunday.
