Arsenal sit third in the league table with 46 points, level with the defending champions Manchester City and five behind their opponents Liverpool.
The Gunners were on a torrid run of form before the international break with just one win in seven in all competitions but have bounced back with back-to-back victories in the Premier League, dispatching Crystal Palace 5-0 and beating Forest 2-1 last week.
As for Liverpool, they have been firing in goals since Jurgen Klopp announced his exit at the end of the season with a 5-2 win over Norwich in the FA Cup and then a dominant 4-1 win over Chelsea in the Premier League.
They sit five points clear at the top of the table and are showing no signs of stopping any time soon.
This will be the second head-to-head meeting in under a month. Liverpool knocked Arsenal out of the FA Cup with a 2-0 win in January and will look to repeat that when they return to North London this weekend. However, Arsenal have been dominant at home this season in the league with eight wins, two draws and just one defeat.
It is expected to be an exhilarating contest between two title candidates and I have included two of my best bets in the preview below:
Team News:
Arsenal: Jurrien Timber, Fabio Viera & Tomiyasu are out while Partey is doubtful.
Liverpool: Matip, Bajcetic, Thiago, Tsimikas & Endo are out while Nunez & Salah are doubtful.
Arsenal vs Liverpool Tips
We have a card-happy referee Anthony Taylor in charge of this massive Premier League contest with two teams fighting for the title going head to head.
He has dished out a total of 20 yellow cards in his last three Premier League games (6,8,6) and this is a game where I expect aggressive tackles and cynical fouls from both sides considering the significance of the occasion.
There have been five or more cards issued in their last three consecutive head-to-head meetings (5,7,8) and I expect another heated battle between these two heavyweight sides.
Five cards should get us our stakes fully refunded whereas six or more should get us the win and we will take that as our main bet with a 1pt stake.
This bet landed the last time these two sides came up against each other in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium and, despite the attacking prowess these two sides possess, they have looked vulnerable defensively in recent weeks with Arsenal only keeping a clean sheet once in their last six games in all competitions, while Liverpool have conceded in four of their last five games in all competitions.
I expect both sides to take a brave approach and attack from the first minute which could present us with an entertaining encounter full of goal-mouth action at both ends.
Despite this being a long shot, I feel it has a realistic chance of landing and at 10/1 we will take it as our second bet for this game with a small 0.25pt stake.
