Arsenal vs. Tottenham Betting Tips: Two picks for the North London derby

The Premier League makes a welcome return on Saturday, starting with the blockbuster early kick-off in North London between old foes Arsenal and Tottenham.
Here are two tips for the eagerly anticipated clash...
Arsenal vs Tottenham Tips
Arsenal headed into the international break at the top of the table, and there is a growing sense of optimism amongst their supporters that they could be involved in a title challenge this season. This weekend’s clash with Tottenham will provide the team with a stern test.
The meeting between these sides at the end of last season signalled the wheels coming off Arsenal’s Champions League push, a spot they eventually surrendered to Spurs. Saturday’s game will give Arteta’s men the perfect opportunity to showcase just how far they have come since then.
Arsenal would have considered themselves unlucky the last time these sides met. Some of the refereeing decisions were much debated when the dust had settled, and I’m expecting the home side to start this one at full throttle with the disappointment of the last meeting fresh in their minds.
Arsenal have spent all of their games this season on the front foot, even their defeat at Old Trafford, and I’m expecting this game to be no different. Conte will look to set up his team to take advantage of the space left by Arsenal during the transitions, so I don’t expect Spurs to have a great deal of shots in this one.
Spurs had 10 shots when they visited the Emirates last season, and they have only gone over the required line for this bet once in their last five trips to Arsenal. This was when they had 13 in a 2-2 draw back in 2019.
None of Arsenal’s seven opponents in the league so far this season have had more than 11 shots. The Gunners’ proactive style of play has proven to be very effective in limiting the opportunities afforded to the opposition.
Arteta’s side have created a lot of chances so far this season, and the sustained pressure on the opponent has led to them forcing a good number of goal kicks. Arsenal’s opponents at home have had 12, 10 and 13 goal kicks so far this season.
Spurs are taking a lot of goal kicks themselves. Conte’s side are averaging 8.7 goal kicks per game in the league this season. In their three away matches they have had 11, 10 and 11 goal kicks, so I can see them having a few here.
We can get odds of 1.87 by combining the Spurs shot and goal kick angles discussed here, and both look to be good bets individually if you fancy taking a different line.
For the longshot, I’m going to take the goal kicks angles from the first bet but increase the line to over 10.5. This has landed in two of Spurs’ games on the road, and Arsenal will be chomping at the bit to get revenge over their local rivals.
I’ll also take the shot line down for the longer odds bet. Just one opponent has had more than 10 shots against Arsenal this season, and this came when they met Fulham.
Finally, I’ll be adding over 1 card in the second half for Arsenal. This has landed in the last three head-to-heads, and Anthony Taylor occasionally likes to wait before distributing the cards in big matches.
