Arsenal vs. PSV Betting Tips: Back Gabriel to give away a foul at The Emirates
Arsenal get their Champions League group stage underway on Wednesday evening as they welcome PSV Eindhoven to The Emirates. We’ve asked our man Anthony Eadson to provide us with his best bets which include a selection from the player fouls market.
This will be the first Champions League game for Arsenal since the 2016/17 season when Arsene Wenger was in charge. The Gunners were beaten 10-2 on aggregate in their last-16 clash with Bayern Munich six years ago and will be delighted to be back eating at Europe’s top table. Arsenal can be backed at 10/1 with most betting sites to go all the way and lift the trophy at Wembley in June, with only three sides priced shorter in the outright winner market.
PSV made amends for their defeat in Champions League qualifying 12 months ago by seeing off the Scots in convincing fashion this time round in their play-off. Peter Bosz’s men saw off Rangers 7-3 on aggregate and have been drawn in Group B, along with Arsenal, Lens and Sevilla.
Arsenal vs PSV Tips
Betfair and Paddy Power have provided a player fouls market for this clash, although it is a little disappointing to see they have only priced up a couple of players for the visiting side. Despite this, I feel I’ve snaffled out a bit of value from the market and for my main play on Wednesday I’m backing Gabriel to give away 1+ foul.
Even money is the price currently available at the time of writing with Betfair or Paddy Power, while Sky Bet take a more conservative approach at 4/7.
These two sides met last year in the Europa League Group stage with Gabriel giving away a foul in each of the two matches. The Arsenal centre-back finished last season by conceding two fouls in each of his final three matches. This term he has continued that streak with one foul in each of his first five appearances for Arteta’s side. That means the Brazilian has now given away a foul in eight consecutive matches and with that in mind, even money (1/1) looks like a strong price.
Martin Odegaard was instrumental in helping Arsenal finish second in the Premier League last season and he recorded more shots on target than any member of the squad in the 2022/23 campaign.
At 10/3 with William Hill, I’ll be having a small punt on him registering at over one shot on target (2+), against the Dutch side. Odegaard once again leads the way for The Gunners when it comes to total shots on target this term, with this bet landing in his last four matches with figures of: 2,2,2,2. Betfred go just 7/4 on this selection, so I’m recommending the much bigger offering from Hills.
