Ajax vs. Volendam Betting Tips: 11/10 and 20/1 anytime goalscorer shouts
John van't Schip begins his reign as interim Ajax head coach with the visit of Volendam in the Eredivisie on Thursday night.
Four straight league defeats left Ajax second bottom and cost Maurice Steijn his job in Amsterdam. Sunday's 5-2 defeat to league leaders PSV Eindhoven now means that the club are rock bottom in the Eredivisie table and have seen their odds to be relegated bulldozed over the last month, plummeting from 2500/1 to face the drop on 23rd September to now sitting at just 50/1.
FC Volendam are only two points better off than Thursday's opponents, winning one more game but also losing six compared to Ajax's five. There isn't a great deal when comparing the two's goals scored and conceded during the league either, so perhaps this will be a much closer affair than the quality of the squads suggest.
Ajax vs Volendam Tips
Volendam's recent upturn means that Ajax may not come away with all three points in van't Schip's first outing. They should, however, find themselves on the scoresheet at least once having done so in six of their last eight games.
21-year-old centre forward Brian Brobbey has four goals for the season, with three of those coming in the Eredivisie and one in his latest outing against the division's top side in PSV. Thursday's visitors have shipped 19 goals in nine matches, keeping just one clean sheet so far.
Goals have been prevalent in both these teams' fixtures this campaign and whichever way the tide may turn we see leaky defences continuing and Brobbey capitalising on this with his 3.44 shots per 90 average.
Volendam have netted nine goals in their last six matches and whether they are able to take something away from the Johan Cryuff Arena or not, they should leave having maintained their scoring run. Therefore tipping up Benaissa Benamar at a whopping 20/1 to score against Ajax on Thursday is too sweet to pass up. The 26-year-old Moroccan defender already has three goals this season, with each of those coming in his last four matches.
He's let off seven shots during this run, four of which have found the target and three have beaten the goalkeeper. He is outperforming his 1.5xG rather impressively and given Ajax's predicament, people don't have an expectation of their issues being immediately resolved. That gives Benamar a great opportunity to continue his hot goalscoring form through utilising set-pieces in a tricky away fixture.
