Aberdeen vs. Rangers Tips: Back Tillman to provide an assist at Pittodrie
Rangers travel north to Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership on Tuesday evening and here at BettingOdds, we’ve previewed the action and provided you with our best bets.
Aberdeen resumed their league campaign with a 1-0 defeat to leaders Celtic at the weekend with Callum McGregor scoring an 87th minute winner for The Hoops at Pittodrie. Aberdeen are third in the league standings and are nine points behind Tuesday’s opponents heading into this fixture and can be backed at 9/2 to get the three points here.
Rangers returned from the World Cup break with a 3-2 win over Hibernian last Thursday in Mick Beale’s first game in charge, since replacing Giovanni van Bronckhorst in the Gers dugout. Hibs twice took the lead at Ibrox, but goals from Ryan Jack and Alfredo Morelos in the second half ensured it was a winning start for Beale.
With nine points currently separating Rangers and leaders Celtic in the table, the Gers will see this as a good opportunity to put some pressure on their rivals before Celtic take on Livingston on Wednesday. Rangers are currently being offered at 11/20 with bet365 to collect the three points, with the draw available to be backed at 10/3.
Aberdeen vs Rangers Tips
The first of two picks we have taken a lean towards at Pittodrie is for Rangers’ Malik Tillman to provide an assist anytime in the match. At the time of writing, Betfair and Paddy Power are best priced at 21/10 on this selection, although it may be worth shopping around closer to kick-off as more firms release their markets.
The 20-year-old American provided two assists in Rangers win over Hibernian, taking up a role just behind Alfredo Morelos in attack. This season, Tillman is averaging 0.4 assists per 90 minutes giving appeal to the 21/10 on show. Both teams have scored in five of Aberdeen’s last six and in all of Rangers’ last three on the road, and we feel it could be a high scoring affair on Tuesday with hopefully Tillman grabbing an assist.
We’ve also picked out a 21/1 Bet Builder double consisting of two players to be carded. John Lundstram is there first of those we are targeting and after five yellows and a red card already this season he’s continued his colorful disciplinary record that he has possessed throughout his career. It was interesting to see Mick Beale play Lundstrum as a central defender against Hibs and with him playing a slightly tweaked role to the norm, we feel this slightly increases his chances of being carded.
The other player we fancy for a booking in this match is Matthew Kennedy of Aberdeen. Not necessarily the first player that comes to mind when it comes to bookings, however one key angle here is that Kennedy will be the direct opponent of Ryan Kent.
The 26-year-old is the most fouled player for Rangers this season in the Scottish Premiership drawing 1.9 per game on average. Only seven players in the entire division are drawing more fouls per game this season than Kent, and with six assists to his name already this campaign, Aberdeen will be well aware of the danger he can create. Combining Lundstram and Kennedy to be carded pays 21/1 with either Paddy Power or Betfair.
