For the professional footballer himself, they may have realised the prestige that certain numbers at particular clubs carry. But which shirt numbers are ‘worth’ the most based on current earnings? Every week, the Premier League 20 pay out an estimated £35,264,143 in player wages. That equates to £1,835,762,920 a year.
We’ve tallied up all the estimated salaries of every Premier League player registered for the 2021/22 season - including those sent out on loan - to work out which shirt numbers have the most money attached to them, calculated by the amount those players earn.
