Wrexham vs. Sheffield United Betting Tips: Mullin to strike again at The Racecourse Ground

National League Wrexham face Championship side Sheffield United in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday afternoon and our man Anthony Eadson is on hand to provide us with his best data-driven tips for the game. 

After a 3-0 away win at Gateshead on Tuesday evening, Phil Parkinson’s Wrexham went three points clear at the top of the National League table and took another step closer to their ultimate goal of returning to the Football League. 

The feel good factor around the club that is co-owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney continues to grow and after they dumped Coventry City out of this competition in a 4-3 cracker in the third round, there is plenty of hope that another giant killing could be on the cards.

However, Wrexham face a Sheffield United side who are flying high in the second-tier of the football pyramid. The Blades are currently second in the Championship table, but have opened up a large 13 point gap between themselves and third place Watford and are now priced at just 1/7 with most bookmakers to return to the top-flight.

The first selection we are touting on Sunday comes in the form of Sheffield United’s Jayden Bogle to have one or more shots on target. It therefore may be worth a shop around closer to kick-off, however at 6/4 we think this looks a strong value proposition. 

In his last three starts for The Blades, Bogle has managed three goals, with the first of those coming in this competition against Millwall in round three, before a brace in the league match at home to Stoke City two weeks ago. 

Taking a look at his shots on target totals, and in his last three outings, Bogle has registered two on target against Millwall, two on target against Stoke City and another one most recently at Hull City. Against lower quality opposition on Sunday, Bogle should have plenty of chances to get forward from wing-back and with his confidence high in front of goal it would be no surprise to see him test the Wrexham keeper on numerous occasions. 

Next up we’ve picked out something at a bit more of a price, with 16/1 available for that man Paul Mullin to score 2+ goals in the game. The former Cambridge man has a whopping 28 goals in 31 appearances in all competitions for Wrexham this season but what is interesting is how many of those have arrived in home matches. 

In total, 78% of Mullin’s goals this season have been scored at The Racecourse ground and it’s also worth noting that he has bagged twice in the same game in six of his 15 home appearances since the start of the season. If the hosts are to cause an upset here we fancy their penalty taker Mullin to be amongst the goals and all things considered 16/1 for him to score a brace looks worth a bit of loose change.
