Real Madrid v Monchengladbach tips: Follow Ramos in the shots on target market

We’ve got plenty of football tips on BettingOdds.com on Wednesday evening and @AnthonyEadson is on hand with three plays for Real Madrid against Borussia Monchengladbach in the Spanish capital. A place in the last 16 is up for grabs for either side, with Gladbach currently topping group B, but with just three points separating Inter Milan, Shakhtar and Madrid, all four sides still have a chance of qualification.
In order to qualify for the knockout phase of the competition Real Madrid need to beat Gladbach, or if they can draw if Inter beat Shakhtar. Zidane’s side will top this group if they win and Shakhtar do not, but can finish bottom if both they and Shakhtar lose.
For Gladbach to progress in the tournament, Marco Rose’s side need to avoid defeat, or need Shakhtar to draw with Inter. The German’s are guaranteed at least Europa League football but would kick themselves if they do not qualify from this position.
Zinedine Zidane’s side are the 3/4 favourites with most bookmakers to win the game. The draw can be backed at 27/10 with a win for the visitors priced at 9/2, an implied probability of 18%.
Sergio Ramos 1+ shot on target - 2pts @ 5/4 Paddy Power
Alassane Plea to score anytime - 1.5pts @ 11/4 Paddy Power
Kroos & Thuram 1+ shot on target, Ramos & Neuhaus to be carded - 0.5pts @ 33/1 Paddy Power
The first of three selections I’ve picked out on Wednesday evening comes in the form of Sergio Ramos to have one or more shots on target, at the boosted price of 5/4 with Paddy Power. The central-defender should return to the side against Gladbach which will be a huge boost for the hosts with his influence at both ends of the field.
With 105 goals in his Real Madrid career, Sergio Ramos will go down as somewhat of a legend at Madrid. Last season in La Liga, Ramos registered 17 shots on target from his 35 appearances and after notching one shot on target in his only home fixture in this competition so far this season I’m fancying him to test the Gladbach keeper from a set piece. The 34-year-old is also the penalty taker for Madrid which also adds to the case for the Spaniard to have a shot on target.
Next up I’m backing Alassane Plea to score anytime in the match. The former Nice front-man is enjoying a good campaign for Gladbach having scored six goals in his last six games. The Champions League has been particularly successful for the French Striker this term, bagging five goals, including a hat-trick against Inter.
I think we should get an open game on Wednesday evening with Real Madrid knowing that they need to win the match. Gladbach are the joint top-scorers in the group phase along with Barcelona and Bayern Munich, they are a team who know how to score goals and with the form Alessane Plea has been showing of late, he looks the value pick at 11/4 anytime, again with Paddy Power.
Finally I’ve picked out a Same Game Multi for what should be an eventful game with plenty at stake for both sides. This one is available at 33/1 and I’m starting it off with Toni Kroos to have one or more shots on target. The German has registered nine shots on target for Madrid this season, and landed two on target against Inter Milan in his most recent home Champions League match.
Marcus Thuram son of World Cup winner William Thuram is second player in this 33/1 longshot and I’m also backing him for a shot on target. The talented young frenchman has registered five shots on target in five group games so far this term and after running Madrid ragged with two goals in the reverse fixture Thuram looks poised to land a shot on target on Wednesday.
The first of two players I’ve opted for to pick up a card on Wednesday is Sergio Ramos. The 34-year-old received ten bookings in 35 La Liga appearances in the 2019/20 season. A usual suspect with referees, Ramos is not afraid to unleash underhand tactics in order to see his side triumph. A born winner with a hefty disciplinary record, Ramos is the one I fancy to see yellow for the hosts against Gladbach.
Rounding off this quartet is Gladbach’s Florian Neuhaus to be carded. The 23-year-old defensive midfielder has been booked four times in the league this season from the ten appearances he has made. Add another booking in there in the Champions League that Neuhaus picked up in against Real Madrid in the return fixture, and that’s five in total which I think we could see rise to six in the Spanish capital.
So that’s a 33/1 shot consisting of Toni Kroos & Marcus Thuram to have one or more shots on target, with both Sergio Ramos and Florian Nehaus to be carded. Enjoy the game which looks set to be a cracker and please always gamble responsibly.
