Women's 100m Odds
Unfortunately, the Jamaican duo of Shericka Jackson and Elaine Thompson-Herah are both be absent from the starting blocks. Tokyo 100m bronze medalist Jackson, who ran 10.84 earlier this year, has opted to focus on her preferred 200m, while injury has sadly ruled out defending champion Thompson-Herah. Three-time Olympic gold medallist Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce then pulled out of her semi-final, leaving Tia Clayton as Jamaica's only hope for a medal.
Below we look at the odds of the gold medal hopefuls.
Sha'Carri Richardson: 10/11
Where else to start than with Sha'Carri Richardson, who has been installed as the 10/11 favourite to win the 100m final tonight.
The American superstar will be gunning for gold in her first ever Olympics having missed out on participating in Tokyo due to a ban for testing positive for cannabis.
Richardson boasts an electric personal best of 10.65 (2023) - the joint 11th best time ever - and came close to surpassing that in her US Olympic Trials victory where she posted 10.71.
The 24-year-old won the World Championships last summer and looks very well placed to back that up with Olympic gold come Saturday.
Julien Alfred: 11/10
Next in the running is St. Lucian's Julien Alfred, whose odds have been cut from 9/2 to 11/10 after she beat Sha'Carri Richardson in the semi-finals.
The 23-year-old's star continues to rise following her gold medal at this year's Indoor Championships which has since been followed by a 100m PB of 10.78 seconds in June; the third fastest time in 2024.
Alfred previously won silver behind Elaine Thompson-Herah at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Tia Clayton: 9/1
19-year-old Jamaican Tia Clayton is definitely one to keep an eye on at 9/1 after her odds were cut to 22/1 following her semi-final win.
Melissa Jefferson: 55/1
Only Sha'Carri Richardson, Jacious Sears, and Julien Alfred have ran faster than Melissa Jefferson in 2024.
The American penned 10.80 six weeks ago and has a PB of 10.69 which she carded two years ago.
She has two World Championships golds (2022 and 2023) in the 4×100m relays and is a lively outsider at 55/1 to grab gold in the individual event in Paris.
Other Contenders and British Interest
African record holder Marie-Josee Ta Lou is 100/1 in the betting, ahead of Great Britain's Darryl Neita at 200/1.
America's Twanisha Terry is out at 250/1, with Switzerland's Mujinga Kambundji the 300/1 outsider.
