Four games take place in the Premier League on Wednesday evening with Chelsea against Arsenal the live offering on Sky Sports. We’ve tasked @AnthonyEadson to provide us with his best bet builder tips for the action.
Two selections have caught his eye, one from Everton vs Leicester, and one from Newcastle vs Crystal Palace a St James’ Park. At the time of writing the double pays 7/4 with bet365 via their bet builder feature.
Bet Builder Tips
Everton welcome Crystal Palace to Goodison in a crucial game for Frank Lampard’s side as they look to secure their Premier League status for next season. After their 1-0 win last time out against Manchester United the Toffees will see this as a good opportunity to put some daylight between themselves and Burnley, especially considering that Leicester have failed to win nine of their last ten matches on the road.
James Maddison is the player I’ve taken a lean towards from the shots market in this game, with bet365 pricing him at 5/6 to have Over 0.5 on target on Wednesday. The attacking midfielder has recorded 18 shots on target in his last 17 starts in the league and averages 1.2 shots on target per 90 minutes over the course of this season.
Betfair and Paddy Power have Maddison priced at 1/2 for a shot on target this evening, while William Hill go even shorter at 1/4. The 25-year-old has scored eight league goals in 2021/2022 and needs just one more for his best ever return in the top-flight.
Another potential way for this selection to land is via a free-kick, which Maddison could be on for Leicester. The referee for Wednesday’s game will be David Coote and of all the Premier League officials to have taken control of 10+ games this season, he averages the most fouls per game (23.78).
The second half of this 7/4 double is Newcastle’s Allan Saint-Maximin to have over 1.5 shots. His Newcastle side take on Crystal Palace up in the north-east with the Magpies having won their last five league matches on home soil.
No Toon player is averaging more shots per game this season than Saint-Maximin (1.97) however when looking at just home matches in 2021/2022, that average rises to 2.5 per game. The Frenchman has started 14 league matches at St James’ this season and has recorded over 1.5 shots in 10 of those (71%). With odds of 1/2 implying a 67% chance of this selection landing, again I feel we are getting a little bit of value with Betfair going 1/5 on the same line.
Bets of luck to anyone following on Wednesday. Please gamble responsibly.
