When and Where is the 2022 French Open being held?
The 2022 edition of the French Open is scheduled to be run in its normal springtime slot, from May 22 to June 5, 2022. It will be held as usual at Roland Garros in Paris.
Who have been the most successful players at the event?
Rafael Nadal has been dubbed 'the King of Clay' and for good reason. The Spaniard has flat-out dominated the event since winning the event as a 19-year-old in 2005. In all that time he has only ever tasted defeat in front of the French fans twice and has lifted the trophy on an incredible 13 occasions...and counting. Swede Bjorn Borg was just as impressive in the 1970s when he won the event six times in eight years.
Over on the women's side of the draw, it is Chris Evert who leads the way with seven wins in the Open era - all of them coming between 1974 and 1986. The next year Steffi Graf secured the first of six French Open titles with Justine Henin (4), Margaret Court* (3), Arantxa Sanchez Vicario (3), Monica Seles (3), and Serena Williams (3) all having accomplished records on the red clay of Paris.
*Margaret Court had three wins in the Open era plus two more when the event was strictly for amateurs.
