NBA 2025 Season Preview
The latest NBA season is nearing closer with the first game of the regular season happening in October. Zaccharie Rissacher was the first pick in the latest draft and many eyes will be on him throughout his rookie season with the Atlanta Hawks. Alexandre Sarr of the Washington Wizards will also face a lot of press during his rookie season with the Wizards however none wil face as much as Bronny James who has joined his father LeBron on the LA Lakers.
This offseason has had many major signings with Paul George joining the 76ers, Chris Paul joining the Spurs and Klay Thompson joining the Mavericks being the main talking points. Lebron James also extended his contract with the LA Lakers after they drafted his son in the second round.
The Boston Celtics won their first NBA Championship in 16 years last season and they are the early favorites to do it again with the Oklahoma City Thunder being priced as second favorites.

Free NBA Picks: BettingOdds NBA Predictions
Bettingodds.com offers you the best betting site to wager on NBA games. Bettors will benefit from our daily predictions as our NBA picks model weighs a multitude of trends, factors, and game-by-game impactors to create the best NBA game predictions.
Moneyline NBA Computer Picks
Betting on a moneyline pick provides you with a clear 50/50 chance to win a wager. Looking strictly at two teams facing off head to head, the moneyline pick is all about choosing who you think will be the winner of the game.
At BettingOdds, we have moneyline picks for every game all season long, and expert predictions from our basketball analysts to give key insight into your NBA betting endeavors.
NBA Picks Against The Spread
The point spread is similar, in that you're looking solely at a game between two teams and making a pick and predictions off of a result of that game.
For reference, let's say the Celtics and Warriors are playing in a game. The Celtics were the best team in the league this season, playing a part in them being heavily favored, with an 8-point spread in their favor.
If you bet on the Celtics, you'd need them to win by more than 8 points in order to win your bet. If you bet on the Warriors, you'd need them to lose by 8 points or less, or even win the game, in order to win your bet.
With so many games every night, and a wealth of insight, key stats, and context impacting each game, our expert predictions and picks can dish you an assist in your NBA betting.
NBA Point Total Computer Picks
Point total betting is another enticing category of bets for bettors to dip into at BettingOdds. Sportsbooks will set a point total before games that can fluctuate, similarly to the spread. In this instance, all that matters in winning your bet is the total score.
This is also known as Over/Under betting, as you're trying to predict whether or not two teams will combine for more or less than the set total score. The winner of the game doesn't matter as you play the odds.
Let's say the Lakers and Warriors are facing off in a Western Conference rivalry game. If the points total set before the matchup is set at 233, that's the score you're betting off of. In order to hit on the under, you'd need the Lakers and Warriors to combine for less than 233 points. If you bet the over, you'd conversely need the Lakers and Warriors to score over 233 points for your bet to hit.
Given how variable basketball games can be, dependent on pace and game flow, this is an exciting way for bettors to play the odds.
NBA Player Props Computer Picks
NBA player prop betting is an exciting way to follow along with NBA games and to test data trends. As players grow and develop throughout their careers, and experience the ebbs and flows of a season, prop bets are an interesting way to play the odds.
With prop bets, you're placing a bet on an event or result to happen or not happen in a game. Let's say in that same Los Angeles Lakers vs. Golden State Warriors game, our computer predictions expect LeBron to score over his season average in points, where the prop bet is set before the game in this case. You could pick for LeBron to score over his season average, following along with our pick, or go against the grain and play the odds, picking LeBron to be held under his season scoring average.
Throughout the entire season, BettingOdds is the place for the best NBA predictions and picks.
NBA Parlay Computer Picks
Part of what makes NBA games so fun to watch is the variability of how each player can influence a basketball game.
In a parlay bet, you take all those variables and put them to the test as you try to win your wager, betting on multiple factors to hit or not hit. Outright victory for a team, the spread, total points, player points, and other individual player's stats can all be part of a parlay bet.
While more factors lead to longer odds to win, they also create higher payouts for when you do win.

Top Expert Tips on Using Our NBA Predictions
- Keep Track of Injuries: Given how few players are on the court at any given team, injuries can greatly impact the end result as well as outcomes throughout the game. Stay on top of injury reports and news to stay ahead of what lineups will look like on any night in the NBA.
- Utilize Advanced Stats: While knowing what you're watching and how to watch is key to analyzing the game and placing bets, advanced stats are a necessary and vital supplement for any bettor. Particularly for understanding trends and gauging impact, knowing what stats to pay attention to and why to pay attention to them is key. Here at BettingOdds, we routinely apply advanced stats in our expert insight.
- Find the Outlier: A sportsbook like FanDuel allows alternate lines on player props. If our projection system believes someone is going to vastly over- or under-perform their betting line, it can be valuable to play the alternate odds for a better payout.
- Secure the Best Value: Sports betting isn't just about getting the results correct, but also finding the best values. With so many different sportsbook options, shopping your NBA prediction will result in getting the best bang for your buck possible.
- Trust the process: Our algorithm doesn't always reflect conventional thinking, but that's because it is not swayed by consensus or groupthink. If you believe in our supercomputer's number-crunching, don't let public opinion sway that thought. If there's a team you feel strongly about, a spread that sticks out, or any other sort of bet that fits your reasoning and is backed by data, trusting the process is key for long-term success.
NBA Season Predictions
The 2024-25 NBA season has the potential to be one for the books. The past few seasons have seen an increase in parity throughout the league, largely due to how the play-in game has affected how organizations rebuild and approach the postseason.
With several teams primed to improve in the coming year, 2025's final standings could be significantly different from 2024's.
NBA Playoffs Predictions
While free agency will play a huge part in spreading talent across the association, teams that have locked in a core stand out. For instance, the Boston Celtics, primed to make a run at an NBA Championship right now, have their top 6 rotation players signed through next season, many even further out. They recently inked starting guard Jrue Holiday to a 4-year contract extension, and they look to maintain a top spot in the NBA.
The Denver Nuggets, New York Knicks, and Minnesota Timberwolves are in roughly similar positions. The Oklahoma City Thunder have a remarkable amount of wiggle room and cap flexibility to make moves as they see fit.
However, many of the other top seeds and outright playoff teams in the league face significant roster overturn if the postseason doesn't end as hoped. It's also worth noting that young teams like the Orlando Magic and Houston Rockets can possibly benefit from internal development and experience at a rate more veteran teams are unlikely to. Teams that dealt with significant injury and absence like the Memphis Grizzlies are likely to be much better next season as well, and a factor in the Western Conference playoffs again.
What is the Best Site for NBA Predictions?
BettingOdds is the premier site for bettors to add to their betting experience. With expert basketball insight, daily NBA computer picks for every NBA game, and a wealth of information and analysis, you can't find a better place to supplement how you bet.
NBA Matchups and Locations
The NBA is split into two conferences, the East and the West. There are 15 teams in each conference: 10 will make the postseason in each conference, whittled down to 8 on each side after the initial play-in games.
Eastern Conference
The Eastern Conference is experiencing a great deal of flux, as a multitude of young and up-and-coming teams are overtaking some of the previously established playoff contenders.
I predict the Boston Celtics to win the Eastern Conference.
Atlanta Hawks
The Atlanta Hawks were disappointed this past season, not even making the playoffs and struggling with inconsistency. Trae Young is one of the best guards in the NBA, and the Hawks will likely need to make significant moves this off-season to cement themselves again as a legitimate playoff threat.
Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics were an elite regular-season team during the 2023-24 season, winning over 60 games for the first time in over a decade. With the entirety of Boston's starting lineup slated to return in 2025, the Celtics are poised to contend for the top of the East, and the NBA, yet again.
Brooklyn Nets
Amongst the most frustrating teams of the 2024 season, the Brooklyn Nets lost 50 or more games for the first time since 2018. While the Nets were expected to be a rebuilding team, their talent was much better than their final record, never felt cohesive, and saw some players regress. Brooklyn will likely be on the outside looking in of the playoff picture next season.
Chicago Bulls
The Chicago Bulls are in a rut, having missed the playoffs for a 2nd straight season even though making and competing in the playoffs has been a goal. Coby White's growth was a major bright spot, but Zach LaVine's injuries that held him to just 25 games played were killer. This group has felt maxed out for some time, which is rough given the spot they've maxed out at. Barring change, they seem to be in the mix for the play-in again next year, and a first round out if they have better success.
Charlotte Hornets
It's hard to gauge what's next for the Charlotte Hornets, as they head into the season with a new coach in Charles Lee. Brandon Miller had a stellar rookie season, and Nick Smith Jr showed some promise, but LaMelo Ball and Mark Williams combined to play only 41 games, and that was the story for Charlotte. The Hornets are clearly in the middle of a rebuild, and that will continue in 2025, but they should be stronger with better injury luck.
Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cavaliers are simultaneously better and worse than they appear: They reached tremendous heights in 2023, and followed that up through adversity in 2024. However, struggles in the playoffs have raised some questions about team construction. Star guard Donovan Mitchell has one year of team control left on his contract, which is worth monitoring. I don't expect Cleveland to fall out of the playoff-contending tier, but much could change depending on their run this current postseason.
Detroit Pistons
Point blank period, the Detroit Pistons were the worst team in the league. They went from Halloween to the day before the New Year without winning a game. They will not be this bad next season, but it will be curious to see how much better they can be given how poor this season was from start to finish.
Indiana Pacers
The Indiana Pacers improved by 10 wins or more in the past two seasons and decided to maximize their window in the present by bringing in perennial All-Star Pascal Siakam via trade. This group is young with veteran experience, and primed to keep rising off the backs of a successful 2024 playoffs.
Miami Heat
After a trip to the Finals in 2023, the 2024 season did not go according to plan for the Miami Heat. Jimmy Butler missed 20 games. Tyler Herro missed half the season. While the Heat found intriguing rotation pieces for the future as they typically do, this team needs more top-end talent. They project similarly next season, always a threat, but not likely to be a top-flight contender without better health.
Milwaukee Bucks
The Bucks made a huge change in the off-season trading for Damian Lillard, and a 2nd coaching change in-season along with less than 50 wins made this a disappointing season. That's without even mentioning the postseason. They have the top-end talent in Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo but are stretched thin depth-wise, and aged. They will be a playoff team next year barring change, but need to improve around the edges.
New York Knicks
The New York Knicks finished 2nd in the East in 2024 in spite of numerous lengthy injuries, as Jalen Brunson played at a near MVP pace. With the majority of the roster set to return in 2025, and the Knicks likely in play for trades in the off-season, they're comfortably contenders in the coming year.
Orlando Magic
The Magic won the most games the franchise has in well over a decade, a statement season for a group that's been steadily building. While they still have a stake in the playoffs, they have the cap space and flexibility to further turn the corner in the coming season and project as a playoff lock.
Philadelphia 76ers
28 different players registered a game played for the 76ers, and that feels like an apt description of their season and playoffs, as they were constantly hampered by injuries after a very strong start. Just 4 players are under contract for Philadelphia next season, including Joel Embiid. Tyrese Maxey, the 2024 Most Improved Player, is up for a new contract. How the Sixers rejuvenate their roster will play a huge factor in how they slate in as a playoff team.
Toronto Raptors
25 games is the fewest the Raptors have won in a season since 2012, as they went full rebuild this year. They are likely to be in a similar position next season but should be a bit better. Any internal improvement or significant free agency moves will play a difference.
Washington Wizards
The Wizards somehow snuck under the radar as equally poor to the Pistons, finishing just one game ahead of them in the standings. The majority of this roster is slated to return next season, and that doesn't bode well for a substantial improvement. Expect them to be firmly outside the playoff mix.
Western Conference
The Western Conference is inarguably deeper than the East while also boasting more top end contenders, five teams winning 50 or more games as opposed to two in the East.
Dallas Mavericks
The Dallas Mavericks played roughly .500 ball for much of the 2024 NBA season but went 24-10 from February to the end of the regular season. Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving meshed, and strong moves to add surrounding talent mid-season bolstered the weaknesses of this team. With another off-season off the backs of a postseason run, the Mavericks are likely to compete for home-court advantage in the 2025 playoffs.
Denver Nuggets
While key role player and starter Kentavious Caldwell-Pope possesses a player option for next season, the majority of the best team in the West (and of the NBA) the two years will return for the Denver Nuggets next year. They are a contender for the NBA Finals without a second thought.
Golden State Warriors
The future of the Golden State Warriors is remarkably enigmatic. The Warriors struggled with consistency early and played catch-up the remainder of the year before losing in the play-in game. Klay Thompson's free agency looms large. The Warriors are likely to be in the mix for the playoffs, but a shakeup feels imminent.
Houston Rockets
The Houston Rockets finished .500 or better for the first time since 2020, carving out a 19-win improvement in Ime Udoka's first season. The Rockets are ripe to jump into the next tier as a viable playoff team in 2025.
Los Angeles Clippers
If the Los Angeles Clippers are ousted early from the playoffs, everything feels up in the air. Injuries prevented the Clippers from a higher seeding, as has been the story of this iteration unfortunately. James Harden is a free agent this offseason and Paul George maintains a player option for next season. The Clippers are more than likely a playoff team, but much can change in free agency.
Los Angeles Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Nuggets in 5 games in the first round, a far cry from last season's Western Conference Finals run. Star forward LeBron James was moot on where he'd be playing in 2025, and that doesn't inspire hope in Los Angeles' immediate future.
Memphis Grizzlies
The Memphis Grizzlies are the team that should be expected to have the most drastic change in results from 2024 to 2025. Ja Morant played just 9 games, and the team played 33 players this season, an unreal number and an unfortunate testament to how injured they were from top to bottom. They won just 27 games after two straight seasons of 50-plus wins. Expect them to be back in that atmosphere.
Minnesota Timberwolves
The Minnesota Timberwolves had their best season in well over a decade and won their first playoff series in 20 years. They project as a contender once again in 2025.
New Orleans Pelicans
Change is coming in New Orleans, as Pelicans GM David Griffin alluded to after they were swept by the Thunder. Zion Williamson played some of the best basketball of his career but suffered an unfortunate injury that held him out of the first-round matchup. The Pelicans should be a playoff team next season, but what does that change look like?
Oklahoma City Thunder
The Oklahoma City Thunder won the West and project to keep climbing and maintain top billing moving forward. They're young, deep, talented, and have the flexibility to make tweaks as they see fit. The Thunder are here for the long haul.
Phoenix Suns
The Phoenix Suns were much better on paper than in principle this season, but they were swept in the first round. With their cap situation and commitment to a trio of stars, that's a failure. They return all three next season and project as a playoff team, but how they restructure the roster will be key in affecting that positioning positively.
Portland Trail Blazers
The Portland Trail Blazers struggled through 2024 as a rebuilding team. Although this roster has a great deal of promise and potential, don't expect a significant jump that vaults them into the playoffs in 2025.
Sacramento Kings
The Sacramento Kings just missed the playoffs after a steady season in 2024, although they didn't quite capture the same heights as they did the season prior. The Kings are a good team, but they need to make upgrades to the bench in order to return to a stronger playoff position in 2025.
San Antonio Spurs
The San Antonio Spurs could throw a massive wrench into the 2025 playoff picture. Victor Wembanyama showed himself consistently as a generational talent. The Spurs were not a good team in 2024, but they track as a team to watch in the off-season, with the potential to be very aggressive in maximizing what this team can do in the immediate future.
Utah Jazz
The Utah Jazz took a small step back in 2024, plagued by a porous defence and nagging injuries to starters. Much like the Spurs, change feels imminent in the off-season, and whether or not that will push the Jazz towards or away from the playoff picture will be key to watch.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why Trust in NBA Computer Predictions?
BettingOdds uses a complex computer algorithm that will simulate a game thousands of times to come up with its prediction. It takes out any bias from a human making the pick and gives a bettor a good view at a machine's perception for NBA best bets each week.
Which Sportsbook Should I Use To Make My NBA Best Bets?
This isn't a one-size-fits-all answer, as all the sportsbooks offer different pros and cons. However, operators like DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, and Caesars are among the best, and signing up for all of them is a great idea because then a user can compare the odds and make the top value wager.
How Quickly Can NBA Odds Change?
Odds change incredibly fast in the NBA, especially as injuries and trades take place. As mentioned with the Memphis Grizzlies, their odds to win the NBA Championship nosedived after Ja Morant's suspension, and once again with his injury.
Does the Computer Predict Player Props?
Yes! Our sophisticated computer projection system will not only predict the final score of games but also player totals. These can be compared to over/under marks at the legal sportsbooks, and bettors can determine if there is some good value to be had that week.
