Top NFL Week 13 Predictions
The action on Sunday features several compelling matchups, including the Chargers vs Falcons, Panthers vs Buccaneers and Eagles vs Ravens. With Week 13 rapidly approaching, it’s time to target our three best bets for this weekend’s loaded slate. We included a total in Atlanta, a wager on the Panthers as home underdogs and a bet on the road underdog in Baltimore. Let’s get into our picks and best bets for NFL Week 13.
Los Angeles Chargers vs Atlanta Falcons Over 47.5 (-110)
After a tremendous first half of the season, the Chargers defense is finally starting to show some cracks in the armor. Los Angeles was rolling on that side of the ball until it went up against the Bengals and Ravens in consecutive weeks. Both offenses moved the ball at will, to the tune of a combined 57 points scored against Los Angeles in the last two games.
This week, the Chargers will head to Atlanta on a short week to play a Falcons team that is coming off a much-needed bye week. This is a dangerous spot for the Los Angeles defense against Kirk Cousins and a Falcons offense that needs a bounce-back game in a big way.
On the other side, given that the Falcons are one of the worst defenses in football at generating pressure, Justin Herbert should have plenty of time to stand in the pocket and pick apart Atlanta for big gains in this one. Given the advantages for both offenses, the over is the only way our expert can look at this matchup.
Carolina Panthers +6 (-105) vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Don’t look now, but the Panthers are playing some of the best football among any non-playoff team in the league of late. Carolina got a terrific game from Bryce Young a week ago, and it was almost enough to pull off the upset against the Chiefs at home. This week, the Panthers are hosting the Buccaneers, who were laying six points in New York against Tommy DeVito a week ago.
This line suggests that the Panthers and Giants are about equal on a neutral field, which doesn’t line up with what we’ve seen on the field in recent weeks. The Buccaneers offense should see plenty of success against a Panthers defense that ranks in the bottom five in pressure rate and pass defense DVOA. With that said, Carolina should be able to put up points against a Tampa Bay secondary that has been very banged up this season, and it shows in the numbers (31st in passing success rate allowed).
This one could quickly devolve into a shootout, and we’ll gladly take six points with the home team.
Philadelphia Eagles +3 (-110) vs Baltimore Ravens
For our final pick on this week’s card, let’s back the Eagles catching a field goal in Baltimore on Sunday. Philadelphia has as strong of a statistical profile as any team in the NFL to this point, and it’s shown over the past couple of months, as the Eagles have rattled off seven straight wins coming out of their bye week to assume total control in the NFC East.
Philadelphia boasts a top-10 offense in most metrics, while the defense is firing on all cylinders, ranking only behind the Lions in points per drive allowed during this winning streak. Philadelphia is much more adept at containing the explosive play compared to a Ravens defense that has struggled all season long with slowing down opposing offenses. That task won’t get any easier against Saquon Barkley and company on Sunday.
On the other side, Lamar Jackson is having the best year of his career, and Derrick Henry is a handful out of the backfield. However, the Eagles defense should be able to generate a consistent pass rush and bottle up Jackson (as much as any defense can) in the run game. The Eagles are live to pull off the outright upset on the road.
