Week 4 TNF Predictions: Jahmyr Gibbs, Jared Goff and Dontayvion Wicks Prop Bet Picks for Packers-Lions 9/28/23
The Detroit Lions are finally favored in a road game against the Green Bay Packers.
Will they live up to the oddsmakers’ projection and get the win on Thursday Night Football? I think it happens in a game with fewer fireworks than expected.
In addition to betting the spread, moneyline and scoring total, here are three prop bets to consider following a perfect 3-0 mark on Monday night. Odds courtesy of DraftKings on September 27th.
Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff Over/Under 251.5 Passing Yards
The Lions are happy to throw the ball with the veteran Goff under center, but I envision a more balanced approach in this matchup.
Rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs has seen his workload increase lately and the Lions will want to get the ball in the electric playmaker’s hands.
The Packers have a solid pass-rush and secondary, so Detroit will have to be smart about how much they throw in this one. Goff is averaging more than 270 passing yards per contest through three weeks but I see a dip in those numbers on Thursday.
I think this game should be close throughout, which means the Lions won’t have to abandon the run.
Prediction: Jared Goff Under 251.5 Passing Yards (-115)
Green Bay Packers WR Dontayvion Wicks Over/Under 18.5 Receiving Yards
It’s been a nice start for the rookie fifth-round pick, who has surpassed 40 receiving yards in each of the past two games.
However, standout receiver Christian Watson is likely to play in this game. With Romeo Doubs and Jayden Reed also in line for snaps, there are playing time questions for Wicks in this one after he was on the field for 52 snaps in Week 3.
This total is low enough that one or two catches could get him over the line, but I believe a quiet night is on the docket for Wicks as he takes a back seat to the more experienced wideouts.
Prediction: Dontayvion Wicks under 18.5 receiving yards (-135)
Detroit Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs Anytime Touchdown Scorer
Gibbs had 17 rushing attempts for 80 yards against the Falcons last time out but failed to reach the end zone. He still has yet to score through three games but I think that changes here.
Starting running back David Montgomery is expected back from a thigh injury, but it’s possible there is a more even playing time split compared to the first two weeks.
Gibbs is a dynamic player who can score either on the ground or through the air, and I think he will shake off the Green Bay defense and get into the end zone on Thursday night.
Prediction: Jahmyr Gibbs scores an anytime touchdown (+120)
