Tee Higgins Next Team Odds: Star Wideout Heavy Favorite to Stay With Bengals

Tee Higgins would be one of the most sought-after players in free agency, but there is substantial doubt he ever gets there.

The Athletic’s Paul Dehner recently reported an expectation that the star wideout will be franchise-tagged by the Bengals, and that likelihood is reflected in his next team odds.

Cincinnati is a heavy -500 favorite to keep Higgins in 2024, as a franchise tag would almost certainly tie him to the Bengals for at least one more season, while a long-term contract extension is also a possibility.

If the unlikely event Higgins does change teams, a reunion with former offensive coordinator Brian Callahan in Tennessee is the clear favorite.

The Bengals recently inked Joe Burrow to a mammoth contract extension, and superstar receiver Ja’Marr Chase is also due one.

But for now, Cincinnati has the fourth-most cap space in the NFL at $59 million and thus can easily fit in Higgins. While Chase is the top receiver for the Bengals, Higgins is a 1A and would have numerous suitors across the league, especially considering he is only 25 years old.

Teams like the Panthers, Patriots, Bears, and Cardinals have cap space and a big need at wide receiver, so they could be in the mix if he does depart Cincinnati.

But this potential free agency feels like one that is already close to a foregone conclusion.

The Bengals have been one of the best teams in the NFL for the past several seasons and there is no reason to take away a core piece if he can be retained.
