Prop Bet Predictions: Bryce Young, Adam Thielen and Chuba Hubbard Picks for Panthers vs. Bears
The uncertainty of Justin Fields’ availability has led to a dearth of Chicago Bears prop bets heading into Thursday Night Football.
No problem. We roll with the Carolina Panthers.
I went a sparkling 8-1 on prop bets last week and will aim to keep it up. Check out my Bears-Panthers prediction, in a game that has serious draft repercussions.
Prop Bet Pick: Panthers QB Bryce Young Over/Under 9.5 Rushing Yards
Young isn’t known for being particularly mobile, but he has done a good job picking his spots and being efficient this season.
Young is averaging 6.9 yards per carry and 16.7 rushing yards per game this season. He has reached double digits in five of seven games this season, and with the state of the offensive line, I think it will happen again.
Kneeldowns can eat into this total at the end of halves, but the Panthers are the underdogs and I’m not super worried about negative yardage.
Prediction: Bryce Young over 9.5 rushing yards (-110 at DraftKings)
Prop Bet Pick: Panthers RB Chuba Hubbard Over/Under 45.5 Rushing Yards
Hubbard has wrested the main running back duties away from Miles Sanders in recent weeks, and while he’s not exactly dominating, Hubbard has been the superior running back.
The Bears actually allow the fewest yards per carry in the NFL at 3.3, so it’s not a good matchup, and Hubbard is only averaging 3.9 YPC on the season.
Even so, I think the volume will be there.
Hubbard has carried the ball 15 or more times in each of the past three games, and since this game could be close throughout, the Panthers should be able to remain balanced.
It might take awhile, but eventually I expect Hubbard to break through the 45-yard barrier, as Carolina wants to keep Bryce Young from having to throw a bunch.
Prediction: Panthers RB Chuba Hubbard over 45.5 rushing yards (-115 at DraftKings)
Prop Bet Pick: Panthers WR Adam Thielen Over/Under 73.5 Receiving Yards
Thielen is absolutely balling this season, with 62 catches for 610 yards in eight games. He’s doing so at age-33, and absolutely lapping his fellow pass-catchers in terms of production.
But I’m wary about this hot start being maintained.
Thielen is averaging career highs in receptions and catch percentage, which feels like an outlier considering his age and the lack of passing game explosiveness in Carolina.
The Panthers have needed to throw a bunch late in games because they have often been trailing by double digits, but I have a feeling this game stays competitive.
Thielen has been a great story but I’m not counting on it to continue against the Bears.
Prediction: Adam Thielen under 73.5 receiving yards (-115 at BetMGM)
Prop Bets Last Week: 8-1
Overall: 39-29
