NFL Betting: Arizona Cardinals Open With Win Total Over/Under of 6.5

After two years in the NFL basement, will the Cardinals climb the stairs to relevancy in 2024?
The betting markets have their doubts.
Despite the prospect of a healthy Kyler Murray to begin the season, the Cardinals have opened with a win total of only 6.5 for the 2024 regular season, per DraftKings on March 25th.
There is -110 juice on each side of the wager, which means the sportsbook believes six or seven wins are the most equally-likely outcomes in the upcoming year.
It is the sixth-lowest win total in the NFL, behind the Patriots, Panthers, Titans, Broncos and Giants.
Eight Lowest Over/Under Win Totals For 2024 At DraftKings
- Patriots under 4.5 wins (-105)
- Panthers under 4.5 wins (+105)
- Titans under 5.5 wins (-140)
- Broncos under 5.5 wins (+115)
- Giants under 6.5 wins (-135)
- Cardinals under 6.5 wins (-110)
- Vikings under 6.5 wins (+110)
- Raiders under 6.5 wins (+115)
The Cardinals are in the midst of a rebuild but showed some signs of life down the stretch, winning three of eight games after the return of Murray following a torn ACL.
The offensive attack was encouraging in the final month and could get a boost if the Cardinals select star receiver Marvin Harrison, Jr. with the No. 4 overall pick in the draft.
The defense, though, finished last in efficiency in 2023 and did not add any game-breaking talents in free agency, as GM Monti Ossenfort chose mid-tier starters like cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting, defensive tackle Justin Jones and defensive tackle Bilal Nichols rather than make a splash.
The Cardinals have made the playoffs just one time in the past eight seasons and have been given +330 odds to secure a postseason berth in 2024. That equates to an implied probability of 23.3%. Both the win total of 6.5 and the odds to make the postseason can be bet on at DraftKings.
The Cardinals opened with a projected win total of 4.5 a season ago and ended up with four victories.
Arizona has a rough schedule. The NFC West is strong, as are the two divisions in which they will play each of the four teams: the NFC North (Packers, Vikings, Bears, Lions) and AFC East (Bills, Dolphins, Jets, Patriots.)
The Cardinals did not make a huge move at the start of the league year, and their odds to win the Super Bowl correspondingly dropped after the first week of leaguewide moves.
While Arizona fans are likely becoming quite anxious to see some progress following a pair of four-win campaigns, DraftKings is pessimistic about the Cardinals’ ability to finish above .500 or make the postseason in 2024.
