Next Head Coach Odds: Bill Belichick Heavy Underdog to Be an NFL Head Coach in 2024

Bill Belichick seemed to be a virtual shoo-in to find a new NFL head coaching job after parting ways with the New England Patriots earlier this month, but now it’s a huge longshot.
Belichick has -2000 odds to not be the head coach of an NFL team in 2024, per DraftKings on January 26th, as his chances made a monumental shift following the Atlanta Falcons’ hire of Raheem Morris as their new coach.
Belichick was as high as a -500 favorite to get the Atlanta job, and conversely had +750 odds not to be the head coach of an NFL team this season.
But now the Seattle Seahawks and Washington Commanders are the only openings remaining, and neither has interviewed Belichick or shown an inclination to do so.
Here are the odds for where Belichick will be head coaching in 2024, which can be wagered on at DraftKings:
- Not the head coach of an NFL team -2000
- Washington Commanders +800
- Any Other NFL Team +1200
- New York Giants +20000
- New York Jets +20000
The Commanders have been mostly hush-hush about their hiring process, though many believe Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson gets the job after his team is eliminated from the playoffs.
If that hits a snag, perhaps Belichick has a chance, but it is still listed as a longshot.
A couple weeks ago it felt like Belichick could be a candidate for the Cowboys and Eagles’ head coaching jobs after they flamed out in the playoffs, but Mike McCarthy and Nick Sirianni were both retained.
While it may have been unthinkable a few weeks ago, it now seems extremely likely Bill Belichick does not coach a team in the NFL in 2024.
