Heralded Trainer Nic Hill: Xavier Legette, Xavier Worthy Poised to Take NFL By Storm

Nic Hill knows wide receivers.
The acclaimed trainer at elite Phoenix sports performance center Exos does one-on-one and small-group work with some of the highest-profile pass-catchers in the NFL: DeAndre Hopkins, Deebo Samuel, DK Metcalf, Calvin Ridley, Odell Beckham, Jr. and Christian Kirk, to name a few.
Hill is currently training a group of college prospects at Exos as they prepare for the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.
While he’s working with all positions, wideout is his forte, and Hill’s opinion carries weight in NFL circles.
When asked to highlight players who have stood out during the past several weeks of training at Exos, two names quickly came to his mind.
South Carolina WR Xavier Legette
Legette burst onto the scene in 2023, catching 71 passes for 1,255 yards and seven touchdowns after a quiet start to his college career with the Gamecocks.
At 6-foot-1 and 217 pounds, he is an ideal size for an outside receiver and has seen his stock soar. Legette has been projected as a late-first or second-round pick.
Hill believes he can quickly ascend to a difference-maker at the NFL level.
“Xavier Legette has been super impressive,” Hill said. “He’s going to be fun to watch on Sundays in the coming years. He will go out there and have a great combine. He’ll put up good numbers."
Hill does not think it will take long for Legette to make his rise in the NFL, joining the ranks of the star pass-catchers he currently coaches.
“He will be one of the top receivers in the game, probably in the next two to three years,” Hill said. “He will be one of those big names.”
Texas WR Xavier Worthy
Worthy wrapped up a stellar career at Texas by catching 75 passes for 1,014 yards and five touchdowns in 2023.
He’s a slighter receiver at 6-foot-1 and about 172 pounds but has electric speed. Hill is excited to see what Worthy runs in the 40-yard dash at the Combine.
“He’s gonna go fly,” Hill said. “He reminds me of a Zay Flowers, but a little bigger and taller. Shifty, really fast. You get the ball in his hands and it’s going to be fun to watch.”
Hill said Worthy, who is also projected as a late-first or second-round pick, reminds him of a guy like 49ers star wideout Brandon Aiyuk as well.
“One of those guys that are just dangerous,” Hill said. “You move him around and let him go. If you put somebody that’s a gunslinger back there, that can throw the ball, he’s going to be a dangerous player in the league for years.”
