Sources: Arizona Cardinals Lay Off Multiple Staff Members, Including CFO and Other Execs

The Arizona Cardinals’ Chief Financial Officer and multiple other employees have been laid off by the team, numerous sources told Betting Odds.
Longtime CFO Greg Lee was one of three high-level employees given the ax by the Cardinals. The others were the Vice President of Corporate Partnerships and the Vice President of Digital Content & Creative.
Several lower-level employees also lost their jobs in the shakeup. The total number of employees laid off was in the double digits, per sources.
Lee had been with the Cardinals since 2006 and was its CFO for the past 15 years.
Owner Michael Bidwill did not lay off any employees during the COVID-19 pandemic, something in which he took great pride. This is the first instance of layoffs in at least the past 10 years.
It comes only a few weeks after the end of the season, in which some employees regularly worked six or seven days per week to fulfill their job duties.
Many within the organization believe the changes have come at the behest of new Chief Operating Officer Jeremy Walls, who was hired in August to oversee the business operations.
Walls made it a point to drastically boost the ticket sales staff prior to these layoffs, while also making staff cuts in other areas, sources said.
Current employees have been told no more layoffs are expected.
It’s the latest chapter in a turbulent period for the non-football-side of the Cardinals.
Bidwill has been under scrutiny for how he has treated his employees, which originally arose when former assistant GM Terry McDonough filed arbitration against the owner, claiming gross misconduct.
Since then, both The Athletic and ESPN have written expansive investigative articles detailing some of the workplace conditions.
The business employees that are still employed will be moving to a new office, another drastic change after previously being housed alongside the football operations staff and the players at the training facility in Tempe.
