Seahawks vs. Colts 2021 Predictions: I like Seattle on the road

The Sportsbooks like Seattle on the road as they open as 2.5pt favorites at Indy. Neil Monnery likes them too...
Seattle open their season with a tricky trip to Indy to face-off against the Colts. This could easily be a make it or break it campaign for Seahawks QB Russell Wilson who has indicated that he wouldn’t mind being traded. The offense in North West Washington has been feast or famine for a while and they need to be more consistent.
To that end they’ve brought in Shane Waldron to be the new OC from the Rams where he’s been part of the offensive brain trust for the past three seasons. The early indications throughout preseason is that he and Wilson have clicked and the playbook seems to suit his strengths well.
With the likes of DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett to get the ball out to deep down the field, they have the potential to be a big play offense. All three should be on plenty of fantasy radars (I managed to nab exactly none of them in my fantasy draft - doh). I did however get Chris Carson to be my backup RB and the fifth year players out of Oklahoma State should do well.
For Indy, they have Carson Wentz ready to be the latest reclamation project under Center. However he’s questionable for the opening game and should he not be fit to go then Jacob Eason will get the nod. The difference between the two is stark but reports early in the week are positive that the Super Bowl Champion QB is on track to make the start.
Whoever gets to play at QB, they’ll be reliant on Jonathan Taylor to pound the rock. The second-year player out of Wisconsin ran for 1,169 yards last year and looks on schedule to become one of the premier players at the position.
Home field advantage is generally seen by the Sportsbooks as worth three points so the fact the line has been set at Indy+2.5 shows they think Seattle are quite big favorites even on the road.
Spread:
I am not a Carson Wentz believer so even if he’s fit and healthy, I’m going to need to see plenty before I feel confident in backing him, even with the points. I’ll take Seattle-2.5
Straight-up/Moneyline:
Seattle are -133 to win on the road and that feels fair enough to me.
Over/Under Points Totals:
At 49.5pts, that indicates that the Sportsbooks believe this new Seattle offense are going to be purring from day one. I’m not totally convinced that they will so give me the under.
