NFL Draft 2021: Surtain a -110 shot to be first Defensive Player Drafted

There are plenty of props to take for Thursday’s NFL Draft.
One of the many, many props out there is for the first defensive player to be selected.
Right now, the odds favor Alabama’s Patrick Surtain II at -110. South Carolina’s Jaycee Horn sits at +250, Penn State’s Micah Parsons at +500, Miami’s Jaelan Phillips +900 and Michigan’s Kwtiy Paye at +1000 to round out the top-five.
I really like this prop, because I think there’s multiple bets you can place and still come out profitable.
I really like Surtain II to be the first corner selected, but at the current price of -278 is too rich for my blood. In many mock draft’s I’ve seen, the Dallas Cowboys at No. 10 overall is the first I see a defensive player coming off the board.
If you think Surtain II is the lock to be the first corner selected but don’t want to pay the -278 juice, taking him as -110 to be the first defensive player selected is a way better price. This will more than likely end up on my personal card for the night.
However, if there’s a place to take a long shot, this prop is it. According to Mel Kiper’s latest mock draft on April 13, he has the Denver Broncos passing up on a quarterback in favor of Parsons +500 at No. 9 overall before any of the corners.
The other long shot could be Paye at +1000.
According to NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah and his latest mock draft back on April 6 has Paye being selected at No. 10 by the Cowboys.
I personally think Paye will go closer to the late teens rather than closer to the top-10, but a lot of people like Parsons. Going into last year’s college football season, Parsons was being looked at as a potential top-five pick. But after sitting out, and reports about Parsons’ attitude came out, I believe that lowered his draft stock. Not by a lot, but enough to fall out of the top-10.
But at +500, I could go a quarter of a unit on Parsons to be the first defensive player off the board while also holding Surtain II at -110 as a larger wager.
In case you want something bigger, Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah sits at +3300, Christian Barmore +4000 along with Caleb Farley and Azeez Ojulari and Gregory Rousseau.
Jamin Davis out of Kentucky, Trevon Moehrig-Woodard sit at +5000 with Greg Newsome II at +8000 and Jayson Oweh rounding out the list at +15000.
