Next Head Coach Odds: Bill Belichick Favored to Land With Team That Doesn’t Currently Have Vacancy

The most decorated coach in NFL history is on the open market, and everyone is waiting to see where Bill Belichick ends up for the 2024 season.

There has been buzz that a team that has yet to fire its head coach wants Belichick, and that is reflected in the odds recently released by DraftKings.

While eight teams are listed with odds, ‘Any Other Team’ is the current favorite at +125. That group would include both the Cowboys and Eagles, who currently have coaches on shaky ground, along with a great number of other teams that may deem it worthwhile to make a switch in order to secure the services of Belichick.

Among the teams with an opening, the Atlanta Falcons are the most likely destination. Former Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has stoked that fire by saying the Falcons are ‘coming in hot’ in hopes of landing Belichick after the recent firing of Arthur Smith.

Gronkowski makes it sound like Belichick wants to keep coaching, but the DraftKings odds reflect the reality that he could decide to take a year off or join a team in another role, as Not the Head Coach of an NFL Team has the second-best odds currently.

The Commanders were once linked to Belichick but the feeling now is that Detroit Lions OC Ben Johnson is the most likely candidate to land in Washington.

Jim Harbaugh is the leader in the clubhouse to go to the Los Angeles Chargers if he leaves Michigan, while the other openings are in the midst of pretty expansive rebuilds that Belichick may not want to be a part of.

Belichick famously spurned the Jets in 2000, and even though they don’t have a head coaching opening, DraftKings has listed that unlikely reunion at longshot +10000 odds.
