NFL Player Props: DeAndre Hopkins to star once more in Arizona

Kyler Murray to DeAndre Hopkins was a profitable connection in the 2020 season but can they repeat it this season? The Sportsbooks have set the over/under line at 1350.5 yards and it is a tough one to call...
I don’t think I’m going out on a limb here when I say that DeAndre Hopkins is one of the very best receivers in the league. He was a superstar in Houston but once he managed to get out of that abject team, the 29 year-old got a chance to play with the exciting Kyler Murray and in their debut season together, Hopkins caught 115 passes for a grand total of 1,407 yards.
The two of them seemed to hit the ground running as it were, having connected 14 times on 16 attempts for 151 yards in the Cardinals week one win over the 49ers. On five more occasions the two of them would hook up for over 100 yards in a game. It is pretty evident that Hopkins is the clear WR1 down in Arizona but he’ll be helped by solid receiver play elsewhere.
AJ Green has been brought in and his veteran play will have to be taken into account. Christian Kirk, Andy Isabella and rookie Rondale Moore will all be part of this passing attack but it will be Hopkins who will be the go to guy in key situations and it is hard to see him not being the first read on the majority of plays.
There is lots of talk Kyler Murray will try and become more of a pocket passer this season. That is a concern for fantasy purposes but in terms of this prop market - if he hangs in there and throws a handful of more passes per game then the receivers will be big beneficiaries of this change in attitude.
DeAndre Hopkins has only cleared the 1350.5 receiving yard mark four times in his eight-year NFL career so you can see why the Sportsbooks have set the number right around there. With an extra game this year that gives us a little bit more leeway.
I’m a big fan of Hopkins and I think Arizona will be there or thereabouts when all is said and done with regards to making the playoffs. If they are then offensively it’ll be on the back of Murray and Hopkins. Give me the over and an excellent year for the former Clemson Tiger.
Pick: Over on the DeAndre Hopkins receiving yards market (1350.5 yards) at -115 with PointsBet.
