NFL Player Props: Expect big things from CeeDee Lamb
A good rookie season for CeeDee Lamb was hampered by a change of QB but Neil Monnery likes him for a big campaign in year two...
Six receivers were taken in the first round of the 2020 NFL draft and they all performed during their rookie campaigns. Justin Jefferson undoubtedly impressed the most but it is CeeDee Lamb who has the biggest opportunity to make a step forward in his sophomore campaign.
As a rookie he hit the ground running with two 100+ yard games in his first five starts. In his first six starts on the spin he caught at least five passes. That is pretty darn good but as the Cowboys’ offense started to slow down after the switch to Andy Dalton following the injury to starter Dak Prescott, Lamb found himself struggling to make as much of an impact.
He didn’t have a 100 yard game with Dalton at the helm and he topped out at six receptions - doing it just the once against the Ravens. In addition, Dalton doesn’t have the arm and knowledge of the offense that Prescott did, therefore the deep ball was not as prevalent as it was.
With Dak Prescott set to return this year, I fully expect to see CeeDee Lamb’s targets go up significantly. His athletic skills will mesh extremely well with those of WR1 Amari Cooper on the other side of the field. This will give his QB two extremely talented receivers who can both go deep.
Last year even with all the issues with the Dalton-led offense - Lamb put up 923 yards receiving through 14 games started (and one coming off the bench with limited snaps). With Prescott back and Lamb’s improvement I am genuinely stunned the over/under number is as low as 1,050 yards. I might even go over at 1,200 as I think the former Sooner is about to become one of the top ten receivers in the league. I am all in on CeeDee Lamb for the 2021 season both from a betting perspective but also when it comes to fantasy football drafts.
Pick: Over on the CeeDee Lamb receiving yards market (1050.5 yards) at -124.
