NFC South Odds & Betting Picks

The defending Super Bowl Champs are the odds-on favorites in the early betting to win the NFC South and considering they've brought back all 22 starters from that Super Bowl victory - is anyone surprised?

Drew Brees has retired but the Saints are still an interesting team but those opening odds of around +250 look short to me.

Off season news:

All change in the Big Easy as Drew Brees has finally announced his retirement. The future Hall of Famer is set to swap the field for the NBC booth as he's set to call Fighting Irish games and be part of the Football Night in America studio team. His two backups will have an open competition for the starting job as both Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill have inked big-money offers to stay with the team. They've cleared $111m in cap space and want to compete again. The problem they have is the reigning Super Bowl champs are in their division...

Over in Tampa Bay, the whole off-season has been spent keeping the band together for another run. Chris Godwin got Franchise Tagged, Shaq Barrett has agreed on a deal to come back and Gronk is not leaving Tom Brady's side. They go into the season as the betting favorites to win the NFC South and it is no surprise.

NFL Betting Picks

The Carolina Panthers are a tough team to get a read on. They clearly are not fully on board with Teddy Bridgewater considering their dalliances with DeShaun Watson and Russell Wilson this off-season. A fully healthy Christian McCaffrey makes them a much better team but I'd struggle at this point to believe they are on the level of the top two teams in this division.

Matty Ice and the Atlanta Falcons have had a very quiet off-season up to now and that reflects with their +1000 odds to win the South. Dangerous team week-to-week but hard to trust consistency-wise.
