Residents of the Tar Heel State can now officially gamble on sports with the top sportsbooks in the United States.

North Carolina is home of two of the best men’s college basketball programs in the country: the Duke Blue Devils and North Carolina Tar Heels.
Residents of the state will be able to sign up for the sports betting apps and then make their legalized wagers on those teams as they head into the NCAA men’s basketball tournament.
North Carolina has odds of 18/1 to win the national championship, while Duke comes in at 25/1, which can now be wagered on at BetMGM sportsbook.
Professional sports teams like the Charlotte Hornets and Carolina Hurricanes can also be wagered on in North Carolina, along with e-sports and Olympic sports.
Bettors must be 21 years old and physically residing in North Carolina to place wagers.
Sportsbook operators have to pay a $1 million fee and an 18% tax on the gross revenue in North Carolina, which is forecasted to bring in approximately $75 million to the state over the first year.
