Suns @ Clippers Game 4: Take Suns to get back on track
Following Phoenix's Game 3 loss, our expert believes the Suns will bounce back in Game 4....
In Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals, we saw the Phoenix Suns come back down to earth after an impressive win streak. However, the Suns are still one-point favorites ahead of Game 4.
Outside of Deandre Ayton, nobody really had a great game for the Suns, as Devin Booker and Chris Paul combined to go 10-for-40 from the field.
On the other side, the Clippers seemingly couldn’t miss. Reggie Jackson was 3-for-8 from three, but seemed like every time the Suns would start to make a run, Jackson would get a couple of huge buckets or hit a big three.
After scoring 11 points in the second quarter of Game 1, DeMarcus Cousins did not see action in Game 3. But he didn’t have to, as Ivica Zubac went off for 15 points and 16 rebounds, including six on the offensive glass.
From my point of view, this looks a lot like the Milwaukee-Brooklyn series. The Suns seemingly can do no wrong at home, but once they hit the road, guys like Patrick Beverley are then allowed to play a lot more physically and get away with things they wouldn’t on the road.
George is essentially playing the point forward roll for the Clippers with Kawhi out and is doing an exceptional job at doing so. He went for 27-15-8 last game and is proving to be more than the Suns can handle defensively.
Of course, we have to talk about the emergence of Terance Mann. I think after that big game against Utah to help close out the series, he tried to play a bit outside of himself in the first two games of this series rather than letting the game come to him.
But in Game 3, we saw him kind of settle back in and do exactly that. He shot 6-for-8 from the field for 12 points and five rebounds, two coming on the offensive glass.
It was also sort of expected that Paul would be a bit rusty after not playing for the last week plus.
Marcus Morris is questionable with a sore left knee and will be a game-time decision for the Clippers. Kawhi Leonard also remains sidelined.
For the Suns, Cameron Payne is expected to return after tweaking his left ankle in Game 3 that caused him to come out and miss the rest of the game.
Since it’s already been proven that one point hasn’t been enough to cover in this series, I’ll take Suns on the moneyline at -115.
For our prop, I think we have to keep rocking with Ayton’s over 16.5 points.
You can get his over at BetMGM at even odds, PointsBet at -115, 888Sport, BetRivers and Unibet at -106.
BONUS PROP: I also like Paul George over 2.5 threes in this game. He got 3-for-11 in the last game, so the opportunities will be there. George is one of the hottest players in these playoffs, if not the hottest after Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks were blown out last night in Game 2.
