Phoenix Suns’ Title Odds Tumble as Playoffs Loom

It’s been a bumpy regular season for the Phoenix Suns.
Will they be able to turn it on in the playoffs? The oddsmakers have their doubts.
After the acquisitions of Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal, the Suns opened 2023-24 with the third-best odds to win the championship at +600, trailing only the Nuggets and Celtics.
But they sit in seventh place in the Western Conference with two games remaining in the regular season, and those odds have dropped all the way down to +2000.
Odds To Win The NBA Championship at BetMGM
- Celtics +175
- Nuggets +320
- Clippers +800
- Bucks +1300
- Thunder +1600
- Timberwolves +2000
- Suns +2000
- 76ers +2000
- Mavericks +2500
The Suns had a regular season win total over/under of 52.5 and will fall short of that mark, as they have 47 victories with games against the Kings and Timberwolves left to wrap the year.
The advanced stats aren’t too promising either, as the Suns have a point-differential average of +2.9 points per game, which is just 10th in the NBA.
Phoenix has shown its high-end ability at times this season, including a recent road win over the Nuggets, but the inconsistency has been glaring.
The presence of Durant, Beal and Devin Booker gives Phoenix enough star power to have a shot, but the body of work suggests that it will be more of an uphill battle than expected to begin the year.
The Suns have +1000 odds to win the Western Conference and advance to the NBA Finals. The Nuggets lead the way there with +145 odds, followed by the Clippers at +400, the Thunder at +700 and the Timberwolves at +850.
