NCAA Men’s Basketball Betting: Duke Opens As Favorite to Win 2025 National Championship

The UConn men’s basketball team cut down the nets for the second consecutive year on Monday.

Now that the season is over, it’s time to look ahead.

The Huskies are among the favorites to win the 2024-25 college basketball national championship, but they are not the team to beat.

The Duke Blue Devils have opened as the title favorite with odds of +1000. Duke went 27-9 this past season and made it to the Elite 8 before getting upset by North Carolina State.

The Blue Devils are projected to have some talented players returning, and will welcome in highly-ranked recruits Cooper Flagg and Khaman Maluach.

They aren’t the only team from North Carolina projected to be in the mix, as the UNC Tar Heels are tied for the third-best odds, according to DraftKings on April 9th.

The Huskies may lose some key players to graduation and the NBA draft but they have more good players in the pipeline, and the transfer portal could also play a role.

North Carolina could bring back RJ Davis and Harrison Ingram, which combined with the other talent on board, could have the Tar Heels in title contention.

Arizona star Caleb Love is probably headed to the NBA and others could also be leaving, but the guard group is strong and the Wildcats will once again replenish the roster through high school signees and the transfer portal.

Purdue is fresh off a national title game appearance but has dropped down a bit in among the early favorites with the departure of Zach Edey. The Boilermakers are +3000 to win the championship.

North Carolina State, which made a Cinderella run to the Final Four, has 150/1 odds to win the title in 2025.
