White Sox @ Yankees Predictions: Chicago on the Moneyline

Two teams with aspirations of going deep into October start a three-game set in New York tonight. Neil Monnery thinks the starting pitching match-up will be crucial...
The two teams with the shortest odds currently to represent the American League in the World Series face-off in the Bronx tonight with the Moneyline looking surprisingly even considering the caliber of the two starters scheduled to take the mound.
Carlos Rodon (5-1 1.47 ERA) is a dominating ace who has been absolutely filthy so far in 2021. Maybe the Sportsbooks are taking note that he's coming off his worst start of the young season and that he may be returning to Earth from his recent other-worldly form. I don't know but every great pitcher is due a bad outing a handful of times a year. Before that four-earned-run game against the Royals - who remember had seen him just the week before and been shutout through six innings of work - he had given up two earned runs in 31 innings. That is just phenomenal.
For the Bronx Bombers, they send out Jordan Montgomery (2-1 4.75 ERA). The lefty is a solid back of the rotation guy but when he’s coming up against an opposition’s ace - you don’t expect the Moneyline to essentially be a toss-up.
It isn’t even as though the Yankees offense has been tearing it up recently. In their four-game set against the Rangers that included Corey Kluber throwing a no-no, they scored just twice in three of those four games. That isn’t going to get it done most of the time.
This is one of those games where you can just look at the starting pitching match-up, check out the Moneyline and think the value side of the ledger will very much be with backing the team with the better option on the mound.
