Shohei Ohtani Next Team Odds: Texas Rangers, Toronto Blue Jays Surge After Reported Interest
There has been a shakeup to Shohei Ohtani’s next team odds following a recent article by plugged-in MLB writer Jeff Passan of ESPN.
Passan wrote that the Los Angeles Dodgers, Toronto Blue Jays and Texas Rangers are ‘chasing’ the superstar Ohtani in free agency, and DraftKings has responded by moving the odds of the team Ohtani will sign with.
The Dodgers have been seen as the big favorite to land Ohtani but their odds actually dropped slightly from +110 to +130. The most notable movement came from the other two teams.
The defending World Series champion Rangers were originally +900 to add Ohtani and now those odds sit at +500, which is tied with the Cubs for the second-best odds. The Blue Jays were originally seen as longshots by the sportsbook, sitting at +2000 odds, and now those have been sliced all the way down to +750.
Teams like the Cubs, Giants and Mets have seen their odds lengthen after they were not mentioned as one of the top three suitors by Passan.
Here is a look at the current next team odds of Shohei Ohtani, per DraftKings on November 28th:
- Los Angeles Dodgers +130
- Texas Rangers +500
- Chicago Cubs +500
- Toronto Blue Jays +750
- New York Yankees +900
- New York Mets +1100
- San Francisco Giants +1300
- Boston Red Sox +1500
- Seattle Mariners +2000
- Philadelphia Phillies +2000
- Los Angeles Angels +2000
- San Diego Padres +2500
- Field (Any other team) +2500
Ohtani is not going to pitch in 2024 after having surgery on his throwing arm but will still have one of the most lethal bats in the majors, and he should be able to return to the mound in 2025, which will make him easily the most valuable commodity in the league.
Here’s how the next team odds to add Ohtani stacked up on November 15th, as it’s clear that Passan’s report has been given a ton of weight by DraftKings.
- Los Angeles Dodgers +110
- Chicago Cubs +350
- San Francisco Giants +650
- New York Mets +800
- New York Yankees +800
- Texas Rangers +900
- Boston Red Sox +1000
- Seattle Mariners +1200
- Los Angeles Angels +1600
- Philadelphia Phillies +1800
