Mariners @ Dodgers Predictions 5/11/21: No runs early here
The final game of the day in Baseball sees Seattle travel down to LA to take on the Dodgers. Zach Rainey has an overview of what might happen...
Among what has been a pretty tough stretch for the Los Angeles Dodgers, dropping eight of their last 10, they’re set to take on the visiting Seattle Mariners this evening.
But I’m not sure the struggles stop here for the Dodgers. The Mariners are a respectable 18-17 and are tied for second in the AL West.
So far this season, the Dodgers have been horrible against lefties, posting just a .211 batting average and unfortunately for them, they take on Seattle lefty Yusei Kikuchi.
The Dodgers counter with Walker Buehler to try and end the cold streak.
Even without Cody Bellinger, this lineup is too good for the Dodgers to remain on this kind of trajectory much longer.
The good news for Dodger fans is that Bellinger has started running again after recovering from a hairline fracture in his leg. It still remains to be seen how long until Bellinger is able to re-join the team, but progress is progress. I’m sure for Dodger fans though, they’d like his bat back in the lineup now more than ever.
At the price of -235 for a team that’s been playing as poorly as the Dodgers, I’m out on taking them here. If you want to keep fading the Dodgers on their tailspin, or just because of their trouble with lefties, sprinkling half a unit or less on the Mariners ML could be a play, just not one I’m personally taking.
I would say take the under, but at just seven runs, that’s too low of a total for a team that can get that easily in the Dodgers.
Instead, I like No Runs Scored in the first inning in this one at -125 on PointsBet.
The Mariners only have one player hitting above .260 right now and only three above .250. That combined with the Dodgers plain inability to hit lefties this season makes me confident in the No Runs First Inning bet.
