Home Run Prop Bet Picks for Diamondbacks vs. Rangers World Series Game 5
The Diamondbacks’ pitching was a major issue in Game 4 of the World Series, putting the team on the brink of elimination.
The Rangers can wrap things up on Wednesday night with a strong performance, and are turning back to starting right-hander Nathan Eovaldi in hopes of getting it done.
But I don’t think the series ends in five games. The teams have equal -110 odds of winning this contest and I like the D-Backs to force a Game 6 because of their offense.
Diamondbacks vs. Rangers World Series Game 5 Betting Prediction
In fact, I think the long ball could be a prominent feature tonight, and here are three players I’m backing to hit one. With such longshot odds, nailing only one still results in profit, so here are the picks.
Prop Bet Pick: 1B Christian Walker Over 0.5 Home Runs (+500 at FanDuel)
Walker has led the Diamondbacks in home runs each of the past two seasons, and by a comfortable margin.
He’s had a quiet postseason, with just one round-tripper in 71 plate appearances, and thus his odds seem to reflect those recent struggles.
But Walker hit 16 regular season home runs at Chase Field in the regular season in 317 plate appearances and is coming off a three-hit day in Game 4, which seems to indicate he is seeing the ball well again.
It wouldn’t surprise me if he goes big fly against the Rangers.
Prop Bet Pick: OF Corbin Carroll Over 0.5 Home Runs (+625 at BetMGM)
Carroll had 13 homers in 322 plate appearances at home this season and cranked 25 overall. He’s hit two in the playoffs but none in the World Series.
The Diamondbacks need their stars to shine the rest of the way if they have a shot at winning the World Series. This will be Carroll’s second look at Eovaldi in a week and I think that will help.
He will hit at the top of the order, which will likely give him five at-bats in this game.
It’s also a righty-lefty matchup, and he hit 21 of his bombs against right-handed pitchers in the regular season. I tried out this prop early in the World Series and it didn’t hit but the odds are even more favorable now, so I’m going back to it.
Prop Bet Pick: OF Lourdes Gurriel Over 0.5 Home Runs (+750 at FanDuel)
Gurriel clubbed a homer to left field in Game 4 and now has three in the playoffs after a career-high 24 in the regular season.
Gurriel was very good at home during the regular season, hitting 15 bombs in 295 plate appearances, and 20 of his 24 in the regular season came against right-handers, so facing Eovaldi isn’t a disadvantage when it comes to this prop.
More than anything, I like these odds, as the payout is pretty good for a middle-of-the-order hitter that has some pop.
All you have to to, Lourdes, is deposit one in the bleachers again. It helps your bettors, and it will help the Diamondbacks push this series back to Texas. Win-win.
