Felix Sanchez’s Ecuador head to the home of NFL side the Raiders on the back of a disappointing defeat against Venezuela, while Jamaica failed to find the back of the net in this competition yet again as they lost out to Mexico in their opener.
It’s all to play for on Wednesday night in what looks to be a must-win game for both Ecuador and Jamaica if either side are to stand a chance of reaching the quarter-finals on US soil.
Ecuador's game against Venezuela was heavily influenced by the red card issued to La Tricolor skipper Enner Valencia in just the 22nd minute of the contest at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
While the Ecuadorians did take the lead thanks to Brighton star Jeremy Sarmiento, they ran out of steam in the second half and Venezuela made the most of their numerical advantage to win 2-1.
Valencia will of course miss Wednesday’s game in Vegas and others will have to step up to fill the void for the former West Ham star.
As for Jamaica, their unenviable all-time record at the Copa America now stands at seven games played, no wins and no goals following a 1-0 defeat to Mexico last week.
West Ham’s Michail Antonio thought he had scored the landmark goal for the Reggae Boyz, but his header was ruled out by VAR and Gerardo Arteaga’s volley ended up winning the game for Mexico.
The wait for a positive result at a Copa America continues for Jamaica and they might have to wait beyond Wednesday night to land those elusive first points.

Given Jamaica’s sorry record in this competition, it’s hard to look past Ecuador winning this game to nil in Vegas.
Sanchez will be taking up discipline after the red card last time out and if La Tricolor can keep 11 players on the field, they should have a good chance of shutting the Reggae Boyz out.
The last time these nations met was back in September 2018, with Ecuador running out 2-0 winners at the Red Bull Arena in New York.
A similar result might well be on the cards here and La Tricolor are good value to win to nil once again.

Scoring in both of Ecuador’s last two games, against Venezuela and Honduras, Sarmiento is a player brimming with confidence right now.
The Brighton forward was out on loan at Ipswich Town last season, helping the Tractor Boys secure automatic promotion to the Premier League.
Scoring six goals in all competitions for Ipswich, Sarmiento is now firing in goals for his country.
He will be hoping to prove to Brighton he’s worth keeping this coming season and the 22-year-old looks capable of adding to his recent goal tally in Las Vegas.
