NBA Sixth Man of the Year Odds 2024
Scoring guards have dominated the Sixth Man of the Year voting in recent years, so it’s not a surprise to see several of them topping the list of favorites for 2023-24.
However, reigning winner Malcolm Brogdon isn’t the one to beat according to the oddsmakers, as Knicks guard Immanuel Quickley and Clippers guard Norman Powell open as co-favorites to capture NBA 6th Man of the Year award this season.

Here is a look at the top four contenders among this years’ 2023-24 NBA Sixth Man of the Year odds:
Immanuel Quickley (+900)
Quickley improved greatly in his third season, averaging 14.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game while shooting a career-best 44.8% from the floor. He will be 24 years old this season, his career is in the ascendancy, and at the time of writing he leads the NBA 6MoTY odds for the 2023-24 season.
Quickley finished second in Sixth Man of the Year voting a season ago and, if his numbers increase again in 2023-24, he could be primed to win the award. Quickley did start 21 games a season ago, which is something to consider in case injuries push him into the lineup with the starting five on a consistent basis.
Norman Powell (+900)
The Clippers seem to specialize in finding Sixth Man of the Year candidates who heat up like microwaves off the bench. Powell averaged 17.0 points in 26.1 minutes per game last season, evoking memories of former Clippers like Jamal Crawford and Lou Williams.
However, he finished only fourth in the voting, as Powell doesn’t contribute in many other areas besides scoring the ball. The oddsmakers like his chances to be in the running but it feels like Powell will need to ratchet up the scoring another notch to make waves and win Sixth Man of the Year. Fancy Powell’s chances of shortening his NBA 6MotY odds even further? Head to BetMGM to take advantage of his preseason odds and land a free bet offer on your way.
Malcolm Brogdon (+1100)
Brogdon is the reigning winner and will look to become the first back-to-back Sixth Man of the Year honoree since Lou Williams in 2017-18 and 2018-19. However, he was traded from the Boston Celtics to the Portland Trail Blazers in a package for Jrue Holiday this offseason, which brings some uncertainty to what we can expect from him this season.
Brogdon averaged 14.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 26.0 minutes per game last year for Boston. He didn’t start a single game after having a full-time starting role previously with the Pacers, and it seems likely that he again comes off the bench for the Blazers.
It’s unclear what kind of minutes he will get or if Brogdon will even remain with Portland long-term, and this may account for why his 6MotY odds are longer than the co-favorites.
Derrick White (+1100)
It’s interesting that Derrick White is in the mix for NBA Sixth Man of the Year 2024 odds, because he is widely projected to start for the Boston Celtics after the trade of Brogdon and Marcus Smart for Holiday. To be eligible for Sixth Man of the Year, a player must come off the bench for more games that he starts, and that is in serious doubt for White.
He is a good player who would likely be in the mix coming off the bench, but this does not seem like a value pick at all considering White may not qualify to win Sixth Man of the Year.

NBA Sixth Man of the Year Odds FAQs
Who won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award last year?
The reigning NBA Sixth Man of the Year is Boston Celtics shooting guard Malcolm Brogdon. He averaged 14.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game in 26.0 minutes off the bench.
Who decides the NBA Sixth Man of the Year?
Like the other end-of-season awards, the Sixth Man of the Year is decided by a panel of North American sportswriters who each cast a first, second and third place vote (worth 5 points, 3 points and 1 point, respectively). The player with the most points wins the award.
Can a player win Sixth Man of the Year more than once?
Yes, players can win the Sixth Man of the Year award more than once. Five players have won it multiple times, led by Lou Williams and Jamal Crawford with three awards apiece.
What is a Sixth Man?
A basketball team's 'Sixth Man' is essentially its best bench player. These players may not be a part of the starting five, usually because a stronger player is available in their position, but they can have significant influence on games when they are subbed onto the court. To be eligible for the award, a player must start the majority of their games from the bench.
Malcolm Brogdon, for example, won the 2023 Sixth Man of the Year Award coming off the bench for the Boston Celtics. Brogdon played as shooting guard at Boston but was second fiddle to Jaylen Brown, one of the Celtics' key players and a two-time All Star. In the 2023-24 season, Brogdon posted a seriously influential season average of 19 points and 6.1 assists per game (tied second-best in the league) whilst shooting 39.8% from the field. Having that kind of firepower coming off the bench is a huge asset for any team, hence the credit given to the league's best Sixth Man each season.
When will the Sixth Man of the Year be decided?
The NBA 6MotY odds will be settled shortly after the end of the NBA Finals. Game 1 of the Finals is set for June 6 2024, with a minimum of four games to be played. Finalists for each award, including the 6MotY, are announced at the end of the regular season, set for April 14 2024.
Which player has the most Sixth Man of the Year awards?
Two players share the record for the most NBA 6MotY awards with three apiece. Lou Williams secured his first 6MotY award in 2015 while playing with the Toronto Raptors, and went on to win a further two in 2018 and 2019 for the Los Angeles Clippers. Jamal Crawford won his first 6MotY award in 2010 as an Atlanta Hawks player, and also secured his second and third at the LA Clippers in 2014 and 2016. As of 2023, the Clippers lead the NBA for the most Sixth Man of the Year Awards with a total of five.
