England vs. Germany might dominate the column inches today but Sweden vs. Ukraine is just as equal of an opportunity to make money. A win is a win whether you are betting on the European Championship Final or an MLS game so let’s delve into this one.
Sweden might have surprised many when winning Group F but they showed us plenty during those three games. A 0-0 draw against Spain looks better with every passing day having seen the Spanish side score ten goals in their past two games. A dogged display against Slovakia before a thoroughly entertaining 3-2 win over Poland got them to seven points. Those performances have opened up the draw for Sweden.
Emil Forsberg has been outstanding up front having scored three times in the group stage. Whilst Alexander Isak hasn’t scored as yet - the 21 year-old has very much impressed and he is currently being linked heavily in the European newspapers with EPL superpower Liverpool. The two of them have forged a wonderful partnership and are a big part of the reason they are the favorites on the Moneyline.
Ukraine scraped into the knockout round despite losing two of their three group games. That lonely 2-1 win over North Macedonia was enough to get them to this stage. They conceded in all three of their previous matches at Euro 2020 and that is worth noting.
How they wish they had the ability to call upon their manager up front. In his pomp Andriy Shevchenko was one of the very best in the world but Roman Yaremchuk is certainly no Shevchenko. They rely heavily on the creative talents of Andriy Yarmolenko and need the West Ham man to be at the top of his game if they are to beat a tough well managed Swedish side.
I doubt they will and like the odds against offering of +145 for Sweden to win in 90 minutes with William Hill. I also like Isak to finally break his Euro 2020 duck at +250 with Resorts Casino in New Jersey.
William Hill have the Sweden/Sweden result in the HT/FT market at a crazy high +800. I’ve got to play that market with so much value on offer.
A low-scoring game is what I expect but following the openness of Monday’s games - I think +143 for over 2.5 goals with Unibet and SugarHouse is a price that is worth playing.
Picks: Sweden on the Moneyline at +145. Isak to score any time at +250 with Sweden/Sweden in the HT/FT market at +800 and an over 2.5 goals flyer at +143.
