Las Vegas Grand Prix F1 Betting Picks: Max Verstappen Enters as Heavy Favorite
Fans across the world have gotten the chance to watch Max Verstappen’s Formula 1 dominance the past couple years, and now Las Vegas will get in on the action.
The F1 circuit will have a race in the United States on Saturday, as Las Vegas, Nevada, hosts it for the first time since the 1982 Caesars Palace Grand Prix.
Verstappen wasn’t born when that race was held but the 26-year-old is in his prime now and the clear driver to beat. He has been listed as the odds-on favorite to win the Las Vegas Grand Prix at -275.
Here is a look at the top-10 candidates to win the Las Vegas Grand Prix, courtesy of BetMGM on November 14th:
- Max Verstappen -275
- Lando Norris +800
- Sergio Perez +1600
- Charles Leclerc +1600
- Carlos Sainz +1600
- Lewis Hamilton +1800
- Oscar Piastri +2200
- Fernando Alonso +2500
- George Russell +4000
- Lance Stroll +10000
Verstappen has won 17 of the 20 races in Formula 1 this season and has racked up 524 points, which is 266 ahead of second-place Sergio Perez, his Red Bull teammate.
Lewis Hamilton is still a dangerous driver but no longer the king of the sport, and he sits in third place in the overall standings with 226 points. Hamilton has not won a race this season. Perez has two and Carlos Sainz won in Singapore, but it’s been an utterly dominant year for Verstappen.
The Las Vegas Grand Prix will be held on a street track around the Las Vegas strip. The unfamiliarity could lend credence to the idea that an underdog could win this race, especially if Verstappen proves to not handle it as well as all the other tracks he has been dominating.
There is a bet that pits Verstappen against the entire rest of the field. Verstappen has the -270 odds to win, while a bettor can take everyone else in the field at odds of +190.
That truly speaks to his dominance, as one driver has a better chance of winning than everyone else combined. However, the car is in top form and so is the driver, which makes it tough to bet against him.
We could get a better idea of an upset possibility in qualifying, when the drivers race around the track for race positioning.
Verstappen is the odds-on favorite to finish in pole position during qualifying, though the odds aren’t as favorable as him winning the race.
Here is a look at the top-10 F1 drivers’ odds to be the qualifying winner at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, via BetMGM on November 14th:
- Max Verstappen -140
- Charles Leclerc +350
- Carlos Sainz +600
- Lando Norris +800
- Lewis Hamilton +2000
- Oscar Piastri +2200
- Sergio Perez +2200
- George Russell +2500
- Fernando Alonso +3300
- Alexander Albon +5000
There is one longshot Verstappen bet that is intriguing. There is a three-leg parlay that includes a Verstappen victory by 10 or more seconds, a Verstappen fastest lap and Red Bull to have the fastest pit stop. All are certainly attainable, but for all three to happen is unlikely and those odds sit at +550.
While this is the first time back in Vegas in decades, the city is no stranger to betting, so it will be fun to follow the action at the Vegas Grand Prix over the weekend.
In the end, it's impossible to pick against Verstappen based on his utter dominance of the competition.
