DC Sports Betting
Editor’s note: As of Jan. 13, 2021
Washington D.C. legalized sports betting in late 2018 so residents no longer have to make the journey to a nearby state, as they are now able to place online sports bets thanks to legislation that was introduced by a Ward 2 council member, Jack Evans in late 2018.
With things going as planned, it meant that sports betting was taking place by June, 2020.
There are no active race tracks in the District of Columbia and therefore the state does not currently allow online horse racing bets to be made.
There is a state lottery active and this is a key element in allowing the prospect of online sports bets to be made as they will be responsible for it, although currently this is not able to be played online.
